Job Description

Overview The Adult Day Center Activities Worker plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors by providing engaging activities and support within a nurturing environment. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about working with older adults and those with memory care needs. Under the supervision of the ADHC Coordinator, the Activities Worker is responsible for developing and facilitating recreational groups and programs which meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of the participants in the LCAAA Hazelwood House Adult Day Center Program. The Activities Worker works as an active team member providing support to participants which may include assistance with activities of daily living. The Activities Worker will help to maintain an organized, sanitary program environment, and ensure that daily supplies and activities are maintained and organized. Develop programs in consideration of the needs, abilities and interests of the participants. Create the monthly activity calendar; organize and maintain craft items and cupboards neat and orderly; plan and serve breakfast and afternoon snack; conduct daily exercise program; assist with ambulation of program participants while inside the center, outside and on external trips. Decorate and maintain activity room according to season. Other duties as assigned by the Coordinator. Duties Plan, organize, and implement recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of participants. Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, and exercise sessions. Provide companionship and emotional support to participants, fostering a sense of community. Document participant engagement and progress in activities for reporting purposes. Maintain a safe and clean environment conducive to participation in all planned activities. Qualifications Experience or education in aging issues counseling, social work, or caregiving is preferred. Background in event planning or recreational therapy is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with older adults compassionately. Ability to assist participants with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously. A genuine interest in enhancing the lives of seniors through meaningful engagement. $12.77 - $14.00 per hour
