Restaurant Manager / Opening Manager Forest Table | Skyforest / Lake Arrowhead, CA Full-Time | New Restaurant Opening Forest Table is a new restaurant and marketplace concept opening in the Lake Arrowhead/Skyforest community. We are building a neighborhood-driven destination focused on quality food, thoughtful hospitality, fresh ingredients, and a welcoming mountain atmosphere. We are looking for an experienced, highly organized, hands-on Restaurant Manager to help lead Forest Table through opening and into day-to-day operations. This is an opportunity to join a new independent restaurant at the beginning and play an important role in establishing the team, service standards, systems, and culture of the business. The Role The Restaurant Manager will oversee daily front-of-house operations while working closely with ownership and the kitchen team to ensure Forest Table operates efficiently, professionally, and consistently. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the restaurant rather than simply managing a shift. The right person notices what needs to be done, solves problems quickly, supports the team, and understands that great hospitality comes from both strong systems and genuine interaction with guests. Because Forest Table is an independent restaurant, this is a hands-on management position. You should be equally comfortable managing schedules and inventory, training an employee, helping during a rush, talking with guests, or jumping in wherever the restaurant needs you. Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily restaurant operations Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop employees Establish and maintain strong opening and closing procedures Maintain excellent guest service and hospitality standards Manage labor and scheduling based on business needs Help maintain food, beverage, packaging, and operating inventory Coordinate with vendors and monitor deliveries and product quality Work closely with the kitchen and ownership to maintain consistency and efficient service Ensure proper food-safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and workplace procedures are followed Maintain an organized, clean, professional restaurant environment Help implement and maintain POS and operational systems Monitor product availability and communicate shortages or operational issues quickly Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory counts, and cost controls Help reduce unnecessary waste and control operating expenses Handle guest concerns professionally and proactively Lead by example during busy service periods and step into service when necessary Help build a positive, accountable, respectful workplace culture Support special events, seasonal programming, and future growth of the restaurant Communicate regularly with ownership regarding staffing, operations, sales, challenges, and opportunities for improvement What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has previous restaurant or hospitality management experience and understands how to run an organized operation without losing the personality and hospitality of an independent restaurant.
You should be:
Dependable and highly organized Comfortable taking initiative and making decisions Experienced managing and motivating a team Strong with scheduling and labor management Comfortable with POS systems and basic restaurant technology Knowledgeable about food safety and sanitation Comfortable managing inventory and vendor relationships Calm and effective during high-volume periods Detail-oriented and proactive Professional with both employees and guests Able to communicate clearly with ownership Willing to be hands-on rather than managing from the sidelines Excited about helping build a new restaurant from the ground up Experience Restaurant, hospitality, café, bakery, deli, specialty food market, or similar management experience is strongly preferred. Experience opening a new restaurant or helping establish restaurant systems is a major plus. Food Safety Manager certification is preferred. California-required certifications must be maintained as applicable to the position. Schedule Full-time position. Availability on weekends and holidays is required. Scheduling will vary based on restaurant operations, particularly during the opening period and peak mountain seasons. Compensation Competitive compensation based on restaurant management experience and qualifications. To Apply Please submit your resume along with a brief introduction describing your restaurant or hospitality management experience. If you have participated in opening a new restaurant, café, bakery, market, or hospitality concept, please include that experience as well.
