Job Summary The Sterling Senior Center is accepting applications for a part-time, 19 hour per week, non-benefited, cook/kitchen manager to oversee the daily weekday operation of the congregate lunch program and special event luncheons at Sterling Senior Center. You will join a small, dedicated and positive staff committed to serving the older adult population. This Senior Center home cooks meals every day. As cook, you will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing day-to-day meal operations. Duties As lead cook, oversee kitchen volunteers to prepare, cook, serve, and clean up daily the congregate lunches for 40-70 participants, and occasional special events of up to 125 attendees. Practice safe operating procedures and observe all safety regulations and precautions as prescribed by ServSafe and federal and state health and sanitary guidelines. Order food and supplies from various vendors to meet budget goals. Maintain records and statistical information; prepare accurate and timely reports. Prepare a monthly, nutritious, and imaginative menu approved by the COA Director. Skills Good communication skills. Ability to instruct, to direct, to speak and to listen. Ability to manage a diverse workforce of volunteers. Computer skills necessary to accomplish online ordering, documentation, and email correspondence. Ability to establish and re-arrange priorities. Must be able to concentrate on moderate details with some interruptions. Must be able to stand for moderate periods of time. Must be able to lift objects of moderate weight from ovens, stovetops or other equipment. Recommended Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience Previous experience in food service and/or elder services is recommended. Must be Serv-safe certified; Allergen Awareness Training, First Aid / CPR certified. Must pass CORI check every two years. This is a basic job description. Other duties as assigned. Pay:

$20.76 - $22.47 per hour Expected hours: 19.0 per week
