This is a working management position, with the majority of the role spent actively cooking, expediting, supporting the line, and ensuring every order meets ButterBird standards. The Restaurant Kitchen Manager will lead by example during service, support cooks and cashiers, oversee day-to-day operations, and help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient restaurant. Key ResponsibilitiesKitchen Execution & Food Quality Work actively on the line as a cook, expo, or support role during service. Ensure all food is prepared accurately, consistently, and quickly, while maintaining standards for taste, temperature, portioning, presentation, packaging, and order accuracy. Expo & Service Flow Manage ticket flow, communicate clearly with the kitchen and cashier teams, organize orders, confirm modifications, and ensure dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders are completed correctly and on time. Team Leadership Lead, train, and coach hourly team members, including cooks, prep staff, expos, and cashiers. Set clear expectations, provide feedback, hold the team accountable, and model urgency, professionalism, cleanliness, and consistency. Cashier & Guest Service Oversight Support the front counter team by ensuring guests are greeted properly, orders are entered accurately, and service remains friendly, fast, and organized. Step in to assist with guest concerns when needed. Daily Operations Assist with opening and closing duties, shift organization, cleanliness, equipment checks, cash-handling oversight, and overall restaurant readiness. Scheduling, Ordering & Inventory Support weekly scheduling, labor management, ordering, receiving, inventory, product rotation, and waste control. Help maintain proper par levels and ensure the restaurant is stocked without over-ordering. Cleanliness & Food Safety Maintain high standards for sanitation, food handling, labeling, storage, temperature logs, equipment care, and health department compliance. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a strong cook and calm, organized leader who enjoys being active in service. They care deeply about food quality, move with urgency, communicate clearly, and can lead a team while working side-by-side with them. Qualifications Previous kitchen leadership, shift supervisor, or restaurant management experience preferred Strong cooking and/or expo experience required Fast casual, quick service, or high-volume restaurant experience preferred Ability to lead while actively working on the line Comfortable overseeing cooks, cashiers, and hourly team members Experience with scheduling, ordering, inventory, and labor management preferred Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required Core Priorities Deliver consistent, high-quality food Lead service from the line as a working manager Maintain order accuracy, speed, and strong presentation Support guest service and cashier execution Train, coach, and hold the team accountable Keep the restaurant clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service About ButterBird ButterBird is a fast-casual chicken concept focused on craveable food, consistent execution, and genuine hospitality.
