Spectrum Generations is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead daily weekday operations in our commercial kitchen, supporting Meals on Wheels, Social Dining, Adult Day Services, and other nutrition programs serving older adults throughout Maine. Position Overview The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing food production, staff scheduling, inventory management, food safety compliance, and daily kitchen operations. Working closely with the Executive Chef and Nutrition Program staff, the Kitchen Manager helps ensure nutritious meals are prepared and delivered safely, efficiently, and with exceptional quality. This is a working manager position. The Kitchen Manager is expected to be actively involved in daily food production and cooking while also providing leadership, supervision, scheduling, inventory oversight, and operational management for the kitchen team. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee daily kitchen operations, food production, and meal service. Actively prepare and cook meals each day, working alongside staff as a hands-on culinary leader. Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and support cooks, kitchen assistants, dishwashers, and volunteers. Ensure all meals meet established standards for quality, consistency, presentation, portion control, and temperature. Manage inventory, purchasing, receiving, storage, and cost-control efforts to support efficient kitchen operations. Develop staff schedules, coordinate coverage for absences, and maintain staffing levels necessary for uninterrupted meal production. Monitor and enforce food safety, sanitation, HACCP, and regulatory compliance requirements. Maintain production records, temperature logs, inventories, and other required operational documentation. Collaborate with Nutrition Coordinators and program staff to ensure meals are prepared, packed, and delivered according to schedule. Qualifications Minimum three (3) years of commercial foodservice experience, including leadership responsibilities Associate degree in Culinary Arts (or completion of at least two years of college-leveleducation) or a verified culinary certificate from an accredited culinary program required. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of food production, inventory management, purchasing, labor scheduling, and food cost control. Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, HACCP principles, and regulatory compliance. ServSafe Manager Certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
