Job Description

Restaurant & Bar Manager Bayfront Marina and Restaurant - Port Bay, Wolcott, NY 20-40 hours per week $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience Bayfront Marina and Restaurant, a waterfront restaurant and bar located on Port Bay, is seeking an experienced, hands-on Restaurant & Bar Manager to help lead the restaurant under new ownership. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced restaurant professional who would like to play an important role in rebuilding and improving an established waterfront restaurant. New ownership is committed to creating a well-run operation known for good food, friendly service, consistency and an enjoyable atmosphere for both customers and employees. The successful candidate will work directly with ownership to establish operating procedures, train and develop staff, improve efficiency and customer service, and help build a strong restaurant operation.
Responsibilities Responsibilities will include:
Plan and oversee day-to-day restaurant and bar operations Assist ownership in developing operating procedures and service standards Recruit, interview, hire, train and supervise restaurant and bar employees Develop employee training procedures and provide ongoing coaching Prepare employee schedules and maintain appropriate staffing levels Establish opening, closing and shift-management procedures Monitor food quality, presentation, portion control and consistency Monitor bar operations, beverage controls and responsible alcohol service Help develop and evaluate menu offerings, pricing and specials Work with kitchen staff to improve food preparation, ticket times and coordination between the kitchen and front of house Monitor food, beverage and labor costs Assist with inventory management, purchasing and vendor relationships Establish procedures to reduce waste, over-portioning and inventory loss Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of the dining room, bar, kitchen and customer areas Ensure compliance with applicable health, food-safety and alcohol-service requirements Handle customer concerns professionally and promptly Help create a friendly, accountable and team-oriented workplace Coordinate special events, live entertainment, fishing tournaments and other marina/restaurant activities Help develop promotions and ideas to increase restaurant traffic and repeat business Monitor customer feedback and recommend improvements Provide ownership with regular updates regarding staffing, sales, costs, operational issues and opportunities for improvement What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have: Prior restaurant, bar or hospitality management experience Strong leadership and employee-training skills Experience supervising both front-of-house and back-of-house operations Good understanding of food and beverage cost control Ability to organize and improve restaurant operating systems Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills Ability to lead by example and work alongside staff when necessary Dependability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required Experience with seasonal, waterfront or high-volume restaurant operations is a plus Experience with POS systems, scheduling, inventory and restaurant financial reporting is a plus The Opportunity Bayfront Marina and Restaurant is an existing waterfront restaurant under new ownership. We are looking for someone who wants a management/operations position rather than a typical shift-manager position. The right person will have an opportunity to work directly with ownership to help rebuild the operation, establish a strong restaurant culture and make Bayfront a destination for local residents, boaters, fishermen and visitors to Port Bay. This is expected to be a 20-40 hour-per-week position , with hours varying based on restaurant activity and the season.
Compensation:
$25-$30 per hour, depending on experience. Performance-based or season-end bonus may be available. If you have restaurant management experience and enjoy building teams, improving operations and creating a great customer experience, we would like to hear from you.
