This is a 3-month training position that will transition into the Kitchen Manager role, ensuring continuity and leadership in our senior meal program. Hours Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7 AM - 2 PM (sometimes longer); Part-time, permanent after training period Location North Bonneville Senior Center 32 E. Cascade Dr. North Bonneville, WA Pay Range Starting $18 to $20 per hour, After 3 months $21 - $24 per hour The Role This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking, cares about seniors, and wants to make a meaningful impact on the community. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will work with the long time Kitchen Manager who will be retiring at the end of the year to learn all the details of the job. After training, responsibilities expand to full Kitchen Manager duties, including menu planning, ingredients procurement, inventory management, volunteer coordination and leading kitchen operations. Responsibilities Assist with preparing delicious, nutritious lunches Apply knowledge of volume cooking and recipe scaling Prepare ingredients (chopping, peeling, cutting meats, etc.) Cook vegetables, meats, soups, salads, desserts, and prepare beverages Follow food safety and sanitation procedures Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment Monitor food temperatures and quality Assist with dining room setup and cleanup Support meal count recordkeeping Learn about shopping for food items with the existing Kitchen Manager to eventually be responsible for procurement of food for the program Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or equivalent One year of experience in volume cooking or food preparation Knowledge of cooking methods and kitchen equipment Ability to follow recipes and sanitation procedures Strong communication skills and ability to work well with seniors Valid Washington Food Handlers Card Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods Legally authorized to work in the United States Job Posted August 19, 2026 Applications Close September 4, 2026 How to Apply Interested candidates may submit a resume and letter of interest with at least two references to: Senior Services of Skamania County, Inc.
