Position Summary & Responsibilities:

The Kansas Soldiers' Home at Fort Dodge is looking for a dependable individual to be the Food Service Supervisor in our Dietary department on our 10:30a
  • 7:00p shift.
This supervisory position works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and oversees a team of seven (7) employees. Our residents are looking for someone, who is friendly, attend work on time as scheduled and who want to be team members of our deficiency free kitchen staff. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Plan, assign, review and evaluate work of staff performing a variety of cooking, baking and food preparation tasks and operating standard food preparation equipment. Helps plan menus, review recipes, special diets and other food requests per requirements and recommendations set by the dietician. Insures through ongoing inspection, that all food products maintain acceptable standards of nutritional value, appearance and flavor from time of delivery through dispersal. Oversees and insures that the standards for cleanliness and sanitation are met and maintained for the kitchen and dining areas. .Participates in the preparation and serving of food.
Qualifications:
Education High School education or equivalent Licensing & Certification N/A Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in commercial/industrial cooking. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Knowledge and ability to use and care for equipment, materials, utensils. Sufficient physical strength to stand the strain of working long hours and lift and carry heavy objects. General education with ability to read, understand and follow written and oral directions. Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Commission on Veterans' Affairs office, to include both the Kansas Soldiers' Home and Kansas Veterans' Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program. All applicants with a conditional offer of employment on or after July 1, 2018, shall be required to submit to a drug screening test. Must successfully pass background check as required by
K.S.A. 39-970.
