Job Description

STEAM Educator Employment Status:
Full time, 40 hrs/wk. Non-exempt.
Pay Range:
$18.00/hr to start. Potential for performance-based pay increase.
Benefits:

We are looking for someone with availability: Tues-Sat 9:00a-3:00p, (9:00a-5:30p on Fridays). Including occasional evening events. The ideal candidate will also be available during Pullman Public School breaks to lead Winter, Spring and Summer camps. Anticipated start date : 8/26/2026
About PDSC:
The Palouse Discovery Science Center is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that exists to connect children of all ages to their families, communities, and the world beyond through interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) exploration.
Scope of Responsibilities:
40% Lessons & Demonstrations Develop and teach a wide-range of scientific topics to children, youth and adults.
Responsibilities may include:
Lead weekly classes Assist with Summer camps Lead Field trip lessons Facilitate Birthday Parties Curate and care for materials in the Maker's Space Participate in Special Events and Outreach Activities Assist in training and supporting volunteers 40% Exhibits & Learning Spaces Assist with daily opening and closing of the exhibit hall; ensure exhibits and spaces are clean and properly stocked with supplies. Monitor visitors' activities throughout the day to ensure safety and policy compliance. Perform regular museum-keeping duties throughout the day. At PDSC, all staff share in the responsibilities of cleaning. 20% Front Desk & Visitor Support Facilitate check-in and visitation processes, greet guests and answer phones and email messages. Assist with sale of admission, memberships, and retail. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

To be considered, candidates must: Be legally able to work in the U.S. Be able to pass a criminal background check Demonstrate excellent classroom management and activity planning skills Possess a friendly, outgoing personality. Must enjoy working with children. Demonstrate ability to communicate and relate effectively to a variety of individuals with a commitment in education Must demonstrate problem solving, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills Proficiency in Canva Ability to work as part of a team Reliable transportation Reliable in attendance
Preferred Experience:
B.A. in education, museum studies, science or related field 2+ years in an educational setting with a wide range of students, ages, and abilities Bilingual, any language Certification in
First Aid/CPR Working Conditions:
Work will be done primarily onsite, with some indoor and outdoor tasks. This position requires the ability to physically bend, stoop, lift and move items weighing up to approximately 50 lbs., to stand and walk continuously throughout the shift.
