SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Assistant Chief Perfusionist performs those functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement, and/or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and/or circulatory system of the patient. The Assistant Chief Perfusionist performs advanced technical work in the selection, preparation, operation, and maintenance of the cardiopulmonary bypass, cardiopulmonary support and ancillary equipment. The Assistant Chief Perfusionist is responsible for the knowledge, operation, and maintenance of a wide variety of technical perfusion equipment utilized in cardiac surgery, as well as, other circulatory support devices, and for close cooperation with the attending physician in extra-corporeal perfusion practices. The Assistant Chief Perfusionist will assist the Chief Perfusionist with department managerial/ administrative responsibilities and assume the temporary role of the Chief Perfusionist in the Chief's absence, while reporting to the PSHVI Administrator or designee. The Assistant Chief Perfusionist will participate in a call rotation, which requires the ability to be onsite within 30 minutes of call activation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
(S): A Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Physiology or equivalency. Certification as a Clinical perfusionist. Three (3) years of related experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
(S): One year pediatric perfusion experience preferred.
