Workers' Compensation, Safety & Compliance Specialist Location:

Trucking / Transportation About Us We are an established California-based trucking company seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation, Safety & Compliance Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with workers' compensation, California labor laws, DOT/FMCSA regulations, OSHA requirements, and workplace safety. Experience in the trucking or transportation industry is strongly preferred. This is an important role within our organization. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, organized, proactive, and capable of taking ownership of our workers' compensation, safety, and regulatory compliance programs. Key Responsibilities Manage the workers' compensation claims process from the initial injury report through resolution, ensuring compliance with applicable workers' compensation laws and regulations. Work directly with employees, claims adjusters, insurance carriers, medical providers, attorneys, and management regarding workers' compensation matters. Investigate workplace injuries and incidents and ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up. Conduct hazard assessments, root-cause analyses, and incident investigations to identify safety risks and help prevent future incidents. Develop, implement, and monitor company safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards. Maintain a safe working environment and work with management to identify and correct potential safety hazards. Maintain knowledge of and assist with compliance related to California labor laws and employment regulations. Maintain knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations and requirements applicable to trucking operations and commercial drivers. Assist with driver safety and compliance programs as needed. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards and workplace safety requirements. Provide and/or coordinate employee training on workplace safety, OSHA requirements, hazardous materials, first aid, CPR, environmental health practices, and other applicable safety topics. Develop and maintain safety training programs and ensure employees receive required training. Maintain accurate and organized records, including: Workers' compensation documentation Incident and accident reports Safety audits Training records Regulatory compliance documentation Hazard assessments Corrective action documentation Conduct or assist with regular workplace safety inspections and audits. Collaborate with management to enforce workplace safety and environmental health standards. Monitor changes in OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, California labor, workers' compensation, and environmental regulations and communicate relevant changes to management. Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and requests for documentation. Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions. Maintain confidential employee, medical, and workers' compensation information appropriately. Required Qualifications Extensive workers' compensation experience is required. Strong knowledge of California workers' compensation laws and regulations . Strong knowledge of California labor laws . Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements . Strong knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations . Ability to conduct workplace incident investigations and root-cause analyses. Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple claims, projects, deadlines, and compliance requirements. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify potential compliance and safety issues before they become significant problems. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working for a trucking, transportation, logistics, or fleet company. 3+ years of workers' compensation and/or safety experience. Experience managing workers' compensation claims directly. Experience with OSHA compliance and workplace safety programs. Experience with
DOT/FMCSA
compliance. Experience with California employment and labor regulations. Experience with hazardous materials and environmental health and safety programs. Experience working with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, claims adjusters, or workers' compensation attorneys. Certifications The following certifications or training are highly desirable: First Aid Certification CPR Certification OSHA certifications or training

training DOT training Other relevant safety or compliance certifications The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership of our workers' compensation and safety functions. You should be comfortable dealing with employees, management, insurance companies, claims adjusters, medical providers, regulatory agencies, and outside professionals. You should also be comfortable reviewing regulations, maintaining detailed records, conducting investigations, and following through on compliance issues. If you have a strong background in workers' compensation and California labor law, combined with knowledge of OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, safety, and environmental compliance, we would like to hear from you. Pay:
$73,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
