BE THE MENTOR YOU NEEDED
• The AmeriCorps Learner Success Specialist Member at Opportunity Academy - Holyoke High School will: Support learners ages 14-60+ to increase their academic knowledge and skills through direct instruction, support with coursework, and tutoring. Provide regular advising to help learners set a clear path for themselves through setting goals, building action plans, and problem-solving to overcome obstacles. Support teachers in classrooms working with individuals and small groups. Student data entry including maintaining student files, attendance records, and more. Support learners to overcome obstacles that interfere with their success - especially getting to school regularly. Call and communicate with learners to check in and encourage attendance. •

DIAL/SELF
AmeriCorps Program (DSAP)! You'll get a chance to see the ins-and-outs of a local school and explore ways to support learning, creativity, and community. • DSAP is a 10-month (Aug 2026 - June 2027) leadership professional development program. • AmeriCorps members serve full-time (40 hours/week) to support positive youth development and strengthen community.

DIAL/SELF AmeriCorps Members:
Develop skills working with youth, schools, and community nonprofits. Build relationships and community through weekly development workshops and collaborative service projects. Pay for college using the $7,395 Education Award. Earn a $1,909/month stipend . Receive free health insurance and child care financial assistance. The
DIAL/SELF
AmeriCorps Program (DSAP) has three core elements : On-site youth work at a local school or nonprofit. Team service project in collaboration with youth and community. Weekly training and reflection to build youth work skills and increase knowledge of different learning styles, social justice issues, arts integration, motivational interviewing, asset-based community development, restorative approaches, group dynamics and facilitation. Members must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident, and have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalency. Reasonable accommodations can be made for interviews and service.
