Job Description

SMC Foods, LLC is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Bilingual Human Resources Assistant to join our team! In this multifaceted role, you will support daily HR operations, employee relations, payroll processes, recruiting, and more. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required, as you will assist a diverse workforce and translate documents as needed. Key Responsibilities Review employee hours and cross-reference with manual attendance sheets Submit daily attendance reports Ensure employees arrive on time and monitor break/lunch periods Enter new hires into payroll and time clock systems Request Rapid cards for employees without direct deposit Process vacation and time-off request forms, checking the calendar Prepare daily production reports by reviewing kitchen, oven, and warehouse logs Prepare incident reports and notify insurance as needed Attend to visitors and receive packages at the door Assist job applicants with applications, documentation, and information on job openings Post job listings, schedule interviews, and coordinate hiring documentation Administer benefits programs, including health insurance, workers' compensation claims, and FMLA leave requests, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations Audit staff compliance with hygiene standards in the plant Supervise daytime sanitation staff to ensure cleanliness Address employee inquiries and complaints professionally and resolve concerns effectively Issue written and verbal warnings to employees Remain available during the afternoon sanitation shift to support staff and supervisors Digitize employee documentation for digital backup Coordinate onboarding and welcome new employees to ensure new hires are welcomed, informed, and integrated seamlessly into the organization Manage employee records with accuracy and confidentiality Translate documents from English to Spanish for Spanish-speaking employees Update employee contact information and generate reports Assist the Warehouse with inventory counts when needed Design report templates and train staff on information gathering Distribute equipment to sanitation employees and record deliveries Serve as back-up for sending Receiving Paperwork and Invoices to the Purchasing and Accounting Department Weekly Tasks Prepare a Thursday morning staff hours report to monitor overtime Meet with managers to sign off on time-off and vacation requests Maintain vacation records and notify employees of expiring time Update and post the HR calendar for staff Conduct employee training to support Quality Control as needed Bi-weekly Tasks Process payroll and review related records for accuracy Generate payroll reports and send payroll invoices Print employee hours and collect signatures Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages. Must be able to communicate effectively with all personnel Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel data analysis, is essential Previous experience in Human Resources or a related administrative field preferred. Knowledge of HR legal compliance standards including OSHA regulations, FMLA policies, and workers' compensation procedures Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism while maintaining close attention to detail Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with employees at all levels and fostering positive workplace relationships Benefits Vacation Low-cost Health Insurance Vision, Accident, Dental Insurance, etc. are also available

$40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
