Job Summary The Human Resource Coordinator plays a vital role in providing support to internal and external customers of the Town of Snow Hill. As an HR Coordinator, you will be the friendly, reliable, and organized face of Human Resources. You'll provide essential support across all HR functions, ensuring our municipal employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to deliver excellent public service. Under general supervision, this position provides professional HR support to the Mayor and Town Manager. Key responsibilities include coordinating meetings, handling general administrative tasks, assisting with research and procurement, preparing documents, performing basic office functions such as correspondence, filing, meeting minutes and serving as a helpful liaison among town officials, employees, and citizens. This position reports directly to the Mayor and Town Manager and operates in accordance with the Town's policies, procedures, and regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, positive and enjoys contributing to a collaborative small-town government environment. General Requirements

Acts as a liaison between employees and management and third-party contractors.
HR Administration:
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the Town's system, process personnel actions (paperwork regarding hires, promotions, separations), and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Benefits Administration:
Help employees understand and enroll in comprehensive benefits packages, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave. Coordinate open enrollment and respond to benefits inquiries with clarity and care.
Training & Development:
Support the coordination of training programs, professional development opportunities, and mandatory compliance training for all municipal departments.
Compliance & Reporting:
Assist with preparing reports for leadership, track HR metrics, and help maintain compliance with labor regulations, safety standards, and municipal policies.
Perform other related and administrative duties as assigned Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
2+ years of experience in human resources, preferably in a government, municipal, or public sector environment.
Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.), and municipal hiring processes.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to help others — you're approachable, empathetic, and solution-oriented.
Familiarity with local government structure and procedures, including budgeting, finance, growth management, public safety, and public works
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in various computer systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, and a quick learner of new technology.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with department heads, Mayor and Council members, and the general public
Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
Skill in organizing and presenting statistical, financial, and factual information clearly
Must possess a valid Maryland Class C driver's license Working Conditions Work is primarily performed indoors in an office setting with minimal exposure to environmental conditions.
