Job Summary The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for supporting and performing a broad range of day-to-day HR functions, including payroll, benefits, recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, compliance, leave administration, safety, employee records, HR reporting, and supporting performance management. This position is expected to maintain familiarity with applicable federal, California, and Nevada employment laws and stay current with changes to labor and employment requirements. The HR Generalist works closely with employees and company leadership to provide accurate, timely, and professional HR support while maintaining confidentiality. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration Process and review employee payroll, including hours, earnings, deductions, and payroll records. Post payroll to the General Ledger and ensure accurate payroll recordkeeping. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll questions. HR Compliance & Employee Relations Maintain working knowledge of federal, California, and Nevada employment laws and regulations and stay current with applicable changes. Assist with maintaining HR policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with applicable laws. Serve as a point of contact for routine employee HR questions and workplace concerns. Assist with employee relations matters, disciplinary documentation, write-ups, and corrective action. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information. Recruitment & Onboarding Post job openings, conduct initial candidate screenings, and coordinate interviews. Assist with hiring, background checks, employment documentation, and new-hire onboarding. Maintain accurate recruitment and onboarding records. Benefits & Leave Administration Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, qualifying events, and terminations. Assist employees with benefit questions and open enrollment. Administer applicable federal and state leave programs and company leave policies. Maintain appropriate leave documentation and records. Safety & Workers' Compensation Assist with workplace safety programs, required documentation, and OSHA/Cal-OSHA recordkeeping. Assist with workers' compensation claims, documentation, and coordination with applicable providers. Maintain required safety and training records. HR Administration & Reporting Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and HRIS information. Prepare routine HR reports and assist with tracking attendance, staffing, turnover, and other HR-related information. Coordinate required employee training and maintain training records. Prepare and distribute HR forms, notices, acknowledgements, and employee communications. Assist with HR projects, audits, policy updates, and other HR functions as needed. Required Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. At least 2 years of progressive HR experience involving payroll, recruitment, benefits, employee relations, and/or compliance. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred. Experience with California employment laws required; familiarity with Nevada employment laws strongly preferred. Skills Working knowledge of federal, California, and Nevada employment laws and regulations. Ability and willingness to stay current with changes to California and Nevada labor laws. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems and Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Pay:
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
