Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Payroll/HR Generalist II for a direct-hire opportunity in Ventura, CA, supporting a manufacturing workforce of approximately 450 employees. This role is ideal for a payroll-focused HR professional who enjoys being a trusted onsite resource for employees, supervisors, and managers. The Payroll/HR Generalist II will manage high-volume payroll administration while also supporting key Human Resources functions, including employee relations, onboarding, leave administration, compliance, training records, and HRIS maintenance. This position offers a stable Monday-Friday schedule, meaningful visibility across the organization, and the opportunity to contribute to a team-oriented manufacturing environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and responsive employee support are valued. Key Responsibilities
Administer weekly and bi-weekly payroll for approximately 450 employees, including timekeeping audits, pay changes, deductions, accruals, payroll taxes, and reconciliations.
Serve as the primary onsite payroll resource for employees and managers, resolving payroll questions related to pay, deductions, taxes, leave accruals, timekeeping, and HRIS self-service.
Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and California wage-and-hour regulations, including garnishments, levies, child support orders, wage assignments, audits, and year-end reporting.
Provide HR Generalist support for employee relations, policy interpretation, corrective actions, workplace investigations, recruiting support, and onboarding.
Administer and support leaves of absence, including
FMLA, CFRA, ADA
accommodations, and other applicable leave programs.
Maintain accurate HRIS records, personnel files, compliance documentation, training records, payroll reports, and workforce metrics. Compensation and Benefits
Pay:
$35.00 to $41.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM.
Employment type: Direct hire. Required Qualifications and Skills
Manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing for a high-volume employee population.
Audit timekeeping, payroll records, employee master data, deductions, accruals, and payroll reporting for accuracy and compliance.
Support HR operations, including employee relations, onboarding, leave administration, HR compliance, and employee documentation.
Partner with employees, supervisors, managers, and corporate payroll to resolve issues and meet strict payroll deadlines.
Minimum of 5 years of payroll administration experience.
Experience managing payroll for an employee population of 400 or more employees.
Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
Strong knowledge of California payroll, wage-and-hour regulations, payroll compliance, and timekeeping practices.
Experience using an integrated HRIS/payroll system.
Working knowledge of employee relations, leave administration, recruiting, onboarding, and HR compliance.
Ability to manage confidential information with accuracy, discretion, and professionalism.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills are preferred for payroll reporting, audits, and workforce metrics. Preferred Qualifications
Dayforce experience is highly preferred.
Experience supporting payroll and HR functions in a manufacturing or industrial workforce.
College degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Strong familiarity with California employment law, leave regulations, and HR compliance practices.
