Full Job Description SUMMARY:
The Human Resources/Payroll Specialist organizes and administers all human resources practices and policies, including payroll, recruitment, benefits, and employee relations for American Council of the Blind and American Council of the Blind Enterprises and Services. The Human Resources/Payroll Specialist also assists with the ACB Scholarship Program and other membership related tasks as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the company vision, mission and core values and implement the strategies necessary to achieve them
HUMAN RESOURCES
Administer policies, procedures and programs relating to all aspects of human resource activity, including personnel records management, position description revisions, employee relations, job evaluation, training, and research on employment related issues Staff representative for administration of the Prohibited Code of Conduct committee Flag relevant employment policy changes and collaborate with Executive Director and CFO on company policy updates Administer and analyze annual staff satisfaction survey Conduct all onboarding and offboarding activities according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
PAYROLL AND STATE UNEMPLOYMENT ACCOUNTS
Prepare and verify payroll and benefits for American Council of the Blind (ACB) and American Council of the Blind Enterprises and Services (ACBES) Maintain payroll records and reports for federal, state, and local government Submits requested information to official governing bodies, including workers compensation and unemployment Ensure HR-related tax and government documents are compliant to legal standards
TALENT ACQUISITION
Collaborate with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and role requirements Track applications, source and screen applicants, and assist in interviewing and scheduling Maintain and administer the new hire on-boarding processes in compliance with new hire checklist and onboarding checklist, including preparation and presentation of an offer letter, drug screens, background checks, review of company policies and benefit plans
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION
Coordinate the scholarship selection process ensuring the appropriate information is provided to the scholarship committee and timelines are met Verify eligibility of scholarship applicants Provide scholarship committee documentation in methods and formats which meet their requirements Monitor student academic progress to evaluate continued scholarship eligibility and following up with committee chair when appropriate
MISCELLANEOUS
Assist with registering members for major ACB events Process callers' donations for ACB's fundraising initiatives Perform other related duties as assigned by management
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
Associates degree in HR or related field 1 - 2 years of previous relevant experience Previous experience processing payroll Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
PREFFERED:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HR or related field Established knowledge of human resources laws and practices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment for this role is predominantly an office setting with sedentary work that mostly involves sitting/standing. This role will be based out of the Brooklyn Center, MN office location.
Fully Onsite TRAVEL:
This role will be required to represent ACB at the ACB National Conference & Convention (week-long trip to convention location with on-site responsibilities in July.
