Human Resources Director/Plant Manager FLSA Status :
Exempt Position Summary DELTA Furniture Manufacturing in Pontotoc, MS is looking for a results driven Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering all aspects of the employee lifecycle for a 140-employee manufacturing facility. This position partners with plant leadership to recruit, develop, and retain employees while ensuring compliance with employment laws, company policies, and safety regulations. The HR Generalist oversees employee relations, benefits administration, policy implementation, performance management, safety initiatives, and HR compliance to support a productive and engaged workforce. Essential Responsibilities Employee Lifecycle Management
Administer all stages of employment, including hiring, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, performance management, and separations.
Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends.
Process employee status changes and maintain personnel files.
Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives. Employee Relations
Serve as a trusted resource for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies and workplace concerns.
Investigate employee complaints and recommend appropriate resolutions.
Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
Foster a positive workplace culture focused on engagement, accountability, and respect. Benefits & Leave Administration
Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans.
Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.
Respond to employee benefit inquiries and resolve benefit issues.
Administer
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, workers' compensation, and other leave programs. Policy Administration & Compliance
Interpret and administer company policies and procedures consistently.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
Maintain required employment records and labor law postings.
Assist with policy updates and employee handbook revisions.
Support audits and reporting requirements. Safety & Workers' Compensation
Partner with operations to promote a safe work environment.
Coordinate safety training and orientation for new employees.
Participate in safety committee meetings and workplace inspections.
Manage workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
Track safety metrics and assist with accident investigations and corrective actions.
Promote OSHA compliance and continuous safety improvement initiatives. Payroll Support
Review employee timekeeping records for accuracy.
Process HR-related payroll changes.
Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate employee compensation and benefit deductions. HR Reporting & Administration
Prepare HR reports and metrics including turnover, absenteeism, recruiting, and headcount.
Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Recommend process improvements to increase HR efficiency.
Participate in special HR projects as assigned. Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience
3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
Experience with employee relations, benefits administration, recruiting, and safety programs.
Working knowledge of OSHA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, COBRA, HIPAA, EEOC, and other employment regulations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Certifications
