Human Resource / Customer Service Specialist

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities (Human Resource)
  • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, personnel files, and HRIS/payroll system data to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Prepare payroll, HR, and compliance reports as requested by management.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and responding to employee inquiries.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding and employee offboarding processes, including required documentation and system updates.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, leave, and company policies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with workers' compensation claims, unemployment claims, and the administration of leave programs.
  • Support HR compliance by maintaining required records and ensuring adherence to employment laws.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and company-sponsored events.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information and sensitive HR records.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management. Secondary Responsibilities (Customer Service)
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries via phone or email.
  • Provide accurate information regarding products and services.
  • Process billing/refund transactions with precision and accountability.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while managing customer expectations.
  • Analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance overall service quality.
  • Document interactions and maintain accurate records in the system.
Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-3 years of payroll and HR experience. Working knowledge of payroll and HRIS platforms, such as ADP Workforce Now, Paychex Flex, Worklio, or similar systems. Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Previous experience in a call center or office environment.
  • Strong phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Experience with Insurance products and terminology a plus.
Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
