Human Resources Specialist (Mental Health Organization)
Job Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for core HR functions, ensuring employees receive comprehensive support throughout their employment lifecycle. The position plays a key role in fostering a trauma-informed, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture aligned with the organization's mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources Duties:
Support recruitment and onboarding processes, ensuring new hires are oriented to both HR policies and wellness resources. Assist in maintaining employee records, HRIS systems, and compliance with employment laws and organizational policies. Administer benefits programs, including health insurance, wellness benefits, and leave programs (e.g., FMLA, sick leave, mental health days). Serve as a point of contact for employee relations, addressing concerns with sensitivity, confidentiality, and a trauma-informed approach. Support performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching, and professional development planning. Assist in developing and updating HR policies that reflect best practices in employee wellness, equity, and inclusion. Track HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and employee engagement, and collaborate on strategies for improvement. Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, including psychological health and safety practices.
Collaboration and Organizational Support:
Work closely with leadership, clinical supervisors, and HR teams to align wellness initiatives with organizational goals. Coordinate training for managers on supporting employee mental health and recognizing signs of burnout or distress. Partner with external vendors, trainers, and wellness professionals to deliver specialized programming. Employee Wellness (Mental Health Focus): Develop and implement wellness programs with a strong emphasis on mental health, stress reduction, burnout prevention, and compassion of fatigue. Create initiatives that support clinicians and staff working in high-stress or trauma-exposed environments. Coordinate wellness activities such as mindfulness sessions, peer support groups, debriefing sessions, and mental health workshops. Facilitate access to resources such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), counseling services, and crisis support. Promote a trauma-informed workplace culture that prioritizes psychological safety and emotional well-being. Conduct regular needs assessments and wellness surveys to evaluate staff well-being and identify gaps. Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.
Skills and Qualifications:
