Position Summary The HR Generalist supports both our internal HR function and the HR/payroll needs of our outsourced clients. This role blends traditional HR generalist duties (employee relations, recruitment, records, compliance) with client-facing support across multiple client accounts, including payroll processing, timekeeping, and HRIS administration. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to different client workflows and systems. Key Responsibilities HR Support & Employee Relations Serve as a point of contact for HR-related inquiries and concerns — both internally and across client accounts — adapting to each client's HR workflows and systems. Support recruitment and staffing efforts, internally and for clients: post openings, source and screen candidates, coordinate interviews, conduct reference checks, and issue offers. Facilitate onboarding, welcome packages, and orientation for new hires, both internally and across client accounts. Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential personnel files and HRIS records for internal and client employees. Support performance management processes and employee development plans. Assist in developing, updating, and administering HR policies, procedures, and guidelines, internally and in support of client programs. Investigate and help resolve employee-raised complaints and concerns, escalating as appropriate. Respond to employee and client inquiries via phone, email, and Teams/chat in a timely, professional manner; document interactions and maintain accurate records. Monitor shared inboxes, voicemail, and Teams channels for HR and client requests; escalate and route to the right party. Track core HR metrics (e.g., cost per hire, retention rate), prepare HR activity reports, and gather client feedback to support continuous service improvement. Payroll, Timekeeping & Benefits Review and approve client employee timesheets, as needed or requested by the client; process timesheet adjustments and corrections. Assist with payroll processing across clients using systems such as ADP (Workforce Now or RUN) and Rippling. Reconcile payroll previews and verify accuracy of state allocations, deductions, and 401(k) contributions. Support benefits administration and conduct employee benefit meetings as needed. Manage HR/payroll accounts spanning multiple states, including state unemployment insurance and workers' compensation insurance requirements and filings. Assist with budget monitoring and department-level payroll reporting. General & Administrative Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal employment regulations and company policy. ERP/HRIS
exports for standalone reporting and reconciliations. Provide backup support to fellow HR and accounting team members as needed. Stay current on HR trends, best practices, and relevant regulatory changes. Contribute to process-improvement initiatives across HR and client service delivery. Qualifications & Skills 3-5 years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Specialist, or similar role. Government contracting experience strongly preferred (2+ years), given our client base. Experience supporting multiple clients or business units simultaneously is a strong plus. Working knowledge of payroll processes; direct experience with ADP (Workforce Now or RUN) and/or Rippling preferred. Familiarity with HRIS platforms and general ledger/ERP systems (e.g., Unanet, Deltek, QuickBooks) a plus. Solid understanding of employment law, labor regulations, and HR compliance fundamentals. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust across clients and internal teams. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities. Proficient in Microsoft 365 (especially Excel); able to learn new systems quickly. Self-starter who can plan and manage their own workload with minimal supervision. Able to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism, especially with confidential information. Education & Experience Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). HR certification (aPHR, PHR, and/or SHRM-CP) preferred but not required. 1-2 years of client-facing or customer service experience preferred.
Pay:
From $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 35.0 per week
