Job Description

Industrial Construction Craft Recruiter Position Overview HEMI Systems is seeking an experienced Industrial Construction Craft Recruiter to identify, attract, qualify, and mobilize highly skilled craft professionals for industrial construction and heavy industrial projects. This position will specialize in recruiting skilled tradespeople across disciplines including millwrighting, ironworking, crane and rigging, structural welding, pipe welding, pipefitting, boilermaking, and other industrial craft trades. The ideal candidate understands the industrial construction workforce, knows how to identify qualified craftsmen, and has an established ability to build relationships with skilled tradespeople, craft professionals, trade schools, and industry networks. Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit skilled industrial construction craftsmen for project-based and long-term employment opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified craft professionals in:

  • Source candidates through job boards, social media, trade networks, referrals, union halls, apprenticeship programs, trade schools, industry associations, and direct outreach.
  • Proactively identify passive candidates who are not actively searching for work.
  • Screen candidates for trade experience, certifications, qualifications, safety history, project experience, travel availability, and work authorization.
  • Verify relevant welding certifications, NCCER credentials, crane/rigging qualifications, OSHA training, TWIC credentials, and other applicable certifications when required.
  • Conduct phone and video interviews to assess technical experience and project fit.
  • Match craftsmen with projects based on trade, skill level, certifications, location, schedule, travel requirements, and project-specific qualifications.
  • Maintain an organized and accurate candidate database/ATS.
  • Coordinate candidate onboarding, documentation, drug screening, background checks, orientation, and mobilization requirements.
  • Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the recruiting and deployment process.
  • Develop relationships with foremen, superintendents, project managers, craft supervisors, and operations leadership to understand current and upcoming manpower requirements.
  • Track recruiting activity, candidate pipelines, placements, retention, and mobilization metrics.
  • Help develop recruiting strategies for periods of high-volume hiring and rapid project mobilization.
  • Represent the company professionally at trade schools, hiring events, job fairs, and industry events. Craft Recruiting Focus The recruiter should be capable of understanding and differentiating between skilled craft positions, including: Millwrights

    • 2+ years of recruiting experience, preferably within industrial construction, heavy construction, energy, manufacturing, mechanical contracting, or skilled trades.
    • Strong understanding of industrial craft positions and the qualifications associated with each trade.
    • Proven ability to recruit hard-to-find skilled trades professionals.
    • Excellent sourcing and candidate-development skills.
    • Strong interviewing and candidate assessment abilities.
    • Ability to manage a high-volume recruiting pipeline while maintaining attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
    • Experience using an ATS, CRM, recruiting platform, or candidate database.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous experience as an industrial craft recruiter, construction recruiter, staffing recruiter, craft coordinator, workforce development specialist, or similar role.
    • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and common industrial safety certifications.
    • Familiarity with NCCER, AWS, ASME, API, NCCCO, TWIC, and related industry credentials.
    • Existing relationships with skilled craftsmen, union locals, apprenticeship programs, or industrial contractors.
    • Experience recruiting candidates willing to travel or work rotational/project-based schedules.
    • Understanding of prevailing wage, per diem, travel pay, and project-specific workforce requirements. Key Performance Indicators Success in this role will be measured by:

    • Hiring-manager satisfaction Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is not simply a resume collector.
    They are a skilled-trades talent professional who understands what makes a good millwright, ironworker, rigger, structural welder, or pipe welder. They can speak credibly with craftsmen, understand the difference between certifications and actual field experience, know how industrial projects operate, and can build a reliable workforce pipeline before a project reaches its peak manpower requirements. This is a relationship-driven recruiting position focused on finding the best skilled craftsmen in the industrial construction market.
    Pay:
    $30.00 - $34.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
