Job Description

Regional Military & Veteran Outreach Manager Independent Contractor | Event-Based | Local Travel Overview RapidAscent is seeking relatable, mission-driven professionals to serve as Regional Military & Veteran Outreach Managers near major U.S. military installations. This flexible, event-based contract opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy connecting with transitioning service members, veterans, military families, and career changers. Regional Managers represent RapidAscent at military transition briefings, career fairs, veteran-focused events, nonprofit programs, and community outreach activities. This opportunity is especially well suited for military retirees who are looking for flexible supplemental income and enjoy engaging with veterans, transitioning service members, military families, and others exploring new career opportunities. This role combines community outreach, relationship-building, education, enrollment support, and consultative sales. It is not a cold-calling or high-pressure sales position. Our goal is to help individuals make informed decisions about whether hands-on training in IT, networking, or cybersecurity is the right fit for their career goals. The right person will be approachable, trustworthy, engaging, and able to relate to the military community and individuals seeking a new career path. Regional Managers have the opportunity to increase their earnings by attending additional events and successfully guiding prospective learners through designated program milestones. About RapidAscent RapidAscent provides live, virtual, hands-on training designed to prepare learners for careers in IT, networking, and cybersecurity. Our learners develop practical experience in an enterprise cyber range while building skills in areas such as:

  • Security tools and technologies
  • Career readiness and employment preparation Our mission is to help transitioning service members, veterans, military families, and career changers turn their experience, aptitude, and motivation into meaningful careers in technology. Primary Responsibilities Military, Veteran, and Community Outreach
  • Represent RapidAscent at TAP and military transition briefings, SkillBridge events, career fairs, hiring events, nonprofit programs, veteran events, and community outreach activities.
  • Build trusted relationships with transitioning service members, veterans, military spouses, family members, and career changers.
  • Explain RapidAscent's hands-on IT and cybersecurity training programs clearly and accurately.
  • Help prospective learners understand available career pathways and determine whether the program aligns with their goals.
  • Provide general information about potential funding pathways, including VA education benefits, military education programs, scholarships, and other approved options.
  • Share information about RapidAscent's JumpStart pre-training, admissions process, training experience, and career support.
  • Create a welcoming and professional experience for every person who engages with RapidAscent. Relationship Development
  • Develop professional relationships with installation transition personnel, veteran service organizations, workforce centers, military-affiliated nonprofits, community partners, and other referral sources.
  • Identify relevant outreach and recruiting opportunities within the assigned region.
  • Coordinate with event organizers regarding registration, scheduling, installation access, booth requirements, and event logistics.
  • Look for appropriate opportunities to increase RapidAscent's visibility within local military, veteran, and career-transition communities.
  • Represent RapidAscent professionally and accurately in all interactions. Event Management
  • Prepare for assigned events by reviewing program updates, event details, talking points, and outreach objectives.
  • Transport, set up, maintain, and break down RapidAscent booth materials and displays.
  • Actively engage attendees through meaningful one-on-one conversations rather than relying only on passive booth traffic.
  • Collect prospective learner information accurately and with permission.
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming event presence.
  • Manage outreach materials and supplies responsibly. Prospective Learner Follow-Up
  • Follow up with interested individuals through approved communication channels.
  • Encourage qualified prospects to complete appropriate next steps, such as creating an account, beginning JumpStart, attending an informational meeting, or speaking with the admissions team.
  • Provide timely and supportive communication without using aggressive or misleading sales tactics.
  • Maintain appropriate contact with prospective learners as they move through the initial admissions process.
  • Coordinate with RapidAscent staff when a prospective learner needs additional information about the program, funding, admissions, technology, or career pathways. Tracking and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of event attendance, prospective learner interactions, referrals, and follow-up activity.
  • Enter or submit prospect information using RapidAscent's approved tracking process.
  • Submit a brief post-event report within 48 hours of each event.
  • Track individuals associated with outreach efforts so milestone bonuses can be attributed accurately.
  • Share feedback about frequently asked questions, concerns, objections, and regional needs.
  • Recommend improvements to event strategy, messaging, outreach materials, and learner engagement.

  • Represent RapidAscent with integrity and professionalism.
  • Build a strong and sustainable presence within their assigned region. Performance is based on event participation, quality of outreach, follow-through, relationship development, accurate reporting, and the number of qualified individuals who progress through designated program milestones. Qualifications
  • Prior military service strongly preferred.
  • Military retirees who are looking for flexible, event-based supplemental income and enjoy connecting with and supporting the veteran community are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Military spouses, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, military transition professionals, and individuals with significant experience supporting the military community are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to connect comfortably with people from different military branches, ranks, career fields, professional backgrounds, and stages of career transition.
  • Approachable, encouraging, trustworthy, and professional.
  • Comfortable initiating conversations and explaining program information.
  • Able to balance mission-focused advising with enrollment and performance goals.
  • Organized, responsive, dependable, and able to work independently.
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using email, virtual meeting platforms, online forms, and basic tracking systems.
  • Able to learn RapidAscent's curriculum, admissions process, career pathways, and funding options.
  • Prior cybersecurity or information technology experience is not required.
  • Experience in recruiting, outreach, education, workforce development, veteran services, community engagement, admissions, or consultative sales is beneficial.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to transport basic event and booth materials.
  • Must be able to obtain access to applicable military installations. Installation Access
  • Must be able to obtain access to military installations within the assigned region.
  • Current base access, such as a valid CAC, retiree ID, dependent ID, installation-issued credential, or another approved form of access, is preferred.
  • Must comply with all installation security procedures, visitor requirements, and event-specific access rules.
  • Must maintain any required identification or credentials throughout the contract period.

Estimated Activity:
Approximately 2-8 hours per week, depending on event availability and regional activity
Work Location:
Primarily on the road within the assigned local region Event frequency may range from several events per month to quarterly opportunities, depending on the region, installation schedule, season, and community calendar. Contractors may accept or decline individual event opportunities based on their availability. RapidAscent does not guarantee a minimum number of events, referrals, bonuses, hours, or earnings. Regional Opportunities Regional Managers may be assigned to events near one of the following military communities:
  • Fayetteville, North Carolina
  • Fort Bragg
  • Killeen and Temple, Texas
  • Fort Hood
  • Tacoma and Pierce County, Washington
  • Joint Base Lewis-McChord
  • Fort Campbell, Kentucky
  • including the surrounding Clarksville, Tennessee and Hopkinsville, Kentucky areas
  • El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico
  • Fort Bliss
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • Joint Base San Antonio Additional regions may be added as outreach opportunities expand.
Compensation This is a performance-based opportunity. Contractors earn an event fee for each completed event and may also earn milestone bonuses for eligible individuals they guide into RapidAscent's program. The more qualified events a Regional Manager accepts and the more prospective learners they successfully support through designated milestones, the greater their earning opportunity. Event Fees
  • Event lasting up to 1 hour: $75
  • Event lasting more than 1 hour and up to 3 hours: $150
  • Full-day event: $300 The applicable event fee will be communicated before the contractor accepts the assignment.
Event fees cover reasonable preparation, local travel time, booth setup and teardown, event participation, initial follow-up, and completion of the required post-event report. Events lasting more than three hours that do not meet the full-day event definition will be reviewed and assigned a fee before acceptance. Learner Milestone Bonus Regional Managers may earn a fixed bonus for each eligible individual connected to their outreach efforts who enrolls in RapidAscent and reaches the designated program milestone. The contractor compensation agreement will identify:
  • The bonus amount
  • The required learner milestone
  • Referral-attribution requirements
  • Documentation requirements
  • The payment schedule
  • Any applicable eligibility period
  • How shared, duplicate, or previously existing prospects are handled The Regional Manager must accurately document the initial interaction and complete the required follow-up activity for the learner to qualify for attribution.
Mileage Reimbursement Approved business mileage is reimbursed at the current nationally recognized IRS standard business mileage rate. As of July 1, 2026, the standard business mileage reimbursement rate is $0.76 per mile . The reimbursement rate may be adjusted when the national IRS standard business mileage rate changes. Mileage must be documented and submitted according to RapidAscent's reimbursement procedures. Reimbursable Expenses Reasonable and approved event-related expenses may include:
  • Parking
  • Tolls
  • Event registration fees
  • Flyers and printed materials
  • Booth supplies
  • Candy or promotional items
  • Required visitor or installation passes
  • Other preapproved outreach expenses Receipts are required for reimbursement.
Expenses outside standard approved categories must receive authorization before purchase. Our Approach to Outreach We are not looking for Regional Managers who use pressure, exaggerated promises, or impersonal sales tactics.

  • Help individuals identify the next step that makes sense for their situation.
  • Follow up consistently without becoming pushy.
  • Understand that not every person will be ready or appropriate for enrollment.
  • Build long-term trust within military, veteran, and career-transition communities.
  • Remain honest about program requirements, funding, career pathways, and expected outcomes.
