About the opportunity Are you an experienced CNA who is ready to move from hands-on caregiving into a leadership role? The O'Brien Group LLC is preparing to launch a locally owned home-care company serving Greater West Hartford and Glastonbury. We are looking for someone who understands caregiving firsthand and wants to use that experience to recruit, onboard and support a strong team of caregivers. You will work directly with the owners during the launch of the business and help establish our caregiver-recruiting and office-management functions. Prior management experience is not required. We are looking for a dependable home-care professional with initiative, sound judgment and the desire to grow into an office leadership position. Position details Employer The O'Brien Group LLC Location Farmington, Connecticut. The planned office location is currently being finalized. Service area Greater West Hartford and Glastonbury Schedule Full time, primarily during regular business hours, with some evening or weekend availability (limited). Reports to Owners What you will do
  • Help develop and carry out a caregiver-recruiting plan for Greater Hartford and surrounding communities.
  • Source and engage CNAs, HHAs, companions and other qualified care professionals through referrals, community relationships, training programs, job boards and recruiting events.
  • Screen and interview candidates for skill, reliability, availability and alignment with the company's standards.
  • Coordinate background checks, references, credential verification, orientation and required onboarding documentation.
  • Build positive relationships with applicants and caregivers and help create an employee experience that supports retention.
  • Maintain accurate caregiver, employee and recruiting records.
  • Support scheduling and help match caregivers with clients based on skills, availability, location and client needs.
  • Assist with caregiver call-outs, open shifts and time-sensitive staffing needs.
  • Support client intake, caregiver communication, customer service and other office activities as the business grows.
  • Track recruiting activity, completed interviews, cleared caregivers, time to hire and early retention. What we are looking for
  • At least three years of caregiving experience, including hands-on experience as a CNA in home care, home health, assisted living, senior care or a related setting.
  • A clear understanding of the demands caregivers face and the qualities that make someone successful in a client's home.
  • Interest in moving into caregiver recruiting, onboarding, scheduling and office leadership.
  • Strong communication, organization and follow-through.
  • Comfort speaking with applicants, caregivers, clients, families and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Comfort using email, online applications, scheduling systems and standard office technology.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local business activities. Experience that would be helpful
  • Active CNA certification.
  • Lead caregiver, preceptor, mentor or training experience.
  • Experience helping with caregiver referrals, interviews, orientation, scheduling or onboarding.
  • Professional relationships within the Greater Hartford caregiver community.
  • Experience in private-duty home care or with hourly and live-in assignments.
  • Knowledge of caregiver retention and employee-referral programs. What success looks like During the first 90 days, the person in this role will work with the owners to:
  • Establish a repeatable process for recruiting, screening and onboarding caregivers.
  • Build an initial pipeline of qualified caregivers across the company's service territories.
  • Move qualified candidates efficiently from application through clearance and orientation.
  • Develop relationships with local caregiver-referral sources.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting and personnel records.
  • Help establish a responsive and respectful caregiver culture.
Schedule and on call responsibilities This is a full-time, in-person position with typical business hours. Some evening or weekend availability may be needed (limited). Compensation and growth Compensation is competitive and negotiable based on relevant home-care experience and demonstrated ability. The position will also be eligible for performance-based incentives tied to agreed caregiver-recruiting, staffing, retention and business-growth goals. The role offers a direct path from hands-on care into recruiting and office leadership, with the opportunity to help shape a new home-care organization from its beginning.
