This is a twelve month, full-time, full-benefits position. Position Summary The Assistant Director of Football Operations/Player Personnel assists the General Manager with all aspects of the football program's recruiting operations and strategy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prospective Student Athlete Identification & Evaluation Assist the General Manager with all aspects of the football program's recruiting operations and strategy. Responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, and tracking prospective student-athletes; coordinating recruiting communications and activities; maintaining recruiting databases and records; and supporting the implementation of the program's recruiting plan. Operational Support Support the mission of NIU Football by assisting with the program's daily operational needs. Contribute to the overall success of the football program by providing organizational support, maintaining effective communication, coordinating logistics, and helping create a positive and professional environment that supports student-athlete development and competitive excellence.
NIU & NCAA
Governance Work closely with the NIU Athletic Compliance Office at the directive of the General Manager to monitor initial and continuing eligibility requirements and ensure adherence to NCAA , conference, and institutional regulations. Collaborate with the compliance office meeting regularly to ensure adherence to NCAA and NIU policy for student athlete admissions, housing, financial aid and other campus partners to facilitate the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of prospective student-athletes. On Campus Recruiting Assist with all official and unofficial campus visits, recruiting events, and other recruiting initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating prospective student-athlete travel arrangements, developing and managing detailed visit itineraries, organizing meetings and schedules with coaches, staff, current student-athletes, and campus partners, and ensuring a seamless visit experience from arrival through departure. Serve as a secondary point of contact for visiting prospects and their families, assisting the General Manager in coordinating lodging, meals, transportation, and event logistics, and works collaboratively with internal entities to execute successful campus visits that support the football programs recruiting objectives. Other Related Duties Serve as a liaison between all departments on recruiting matters (compliance, student services, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, travel, business, facilities, housing, parking, tickets, etc.). Serve as an ambassador of the University and the Athletics Department to all Public entities. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operation's and Assistant Athletic Director for Player Personnel. Roster Management Support the Head Football Coach and General Manager in roster management by maintaining recruiting and roster databases, tracking scholarship allocations, and monitoring player personnel movement. Assist with roster planning, retention strategies while ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available to support personnel decisions and long-term roster construction. Minimum one (1) year of NCAA Division I Football experience. Additional Requirements (SPS) Knowledge and experience in Football. Knowledge of NCAA rules regarding recruiting in the sport of Football. Must demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with individuals and groups. Must be a self-motivated person who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be available for weekend work and travel. Preferred Qualifications (SPS) Master's Degree At least two (2) years of NCAA Division I Football experience. Physical demands/requirements Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
