Full Job Description Industrial Learning & Development Specialist The Opportunity:
The Learning & Development Specialist supports the mill's training programs, systems, and records by coordinating, tracking, auditing, and maintaining learning data for compliance, certification, onboarding, and workforce development. This role assists the Learning and Development manager in administering training systems and processes for key stakeholders as well as partnering w/ Division Learning teams to support company learning standards, compliance tracking, certification monitoring, reporting, and LMS administration. This position is an on-site position that will sit at our Mahrt Mill location in Cottonton, AL. How you will impact
Smurfit WestRock :
Tracks, monitors, and reports on employee training completion, certification status, qualification requirements, and recurring training activities in accordance with site and company standards. Maintains ownership of electronic training data within the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring records are accurate, current, and audit ready. Administers new hire orientation/onboarding including coordination of resources, training assignments, and required documentation. Partners with Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Operations teams to ensure compliance training requirements are assigned, completed, documented, and reported. Conducts periodic audits of training records and learning data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Coordinates training logistics including course scheduling, classroom reservations, training materials, rosters, communications, and attendance tracking. Supports the administration and tracking of On-the-Job Training (OJT), qualification programs, and operator/craft certification processes. Assists with the creation, revision, formatting, and distribution of training materials, procedures, work instructions, and job aids. Monitors training metrics and prepares reports, dashboards, and analyses to support workforce planning and leadership decision-making. Serves as the primary administrative resource for local learning processes, responding to training inquiries and providing system support as needed. Identifies opportunities to improve training administration, streamline processes, and enhance reporting capabilities. Performs other administrative, reporting, and learning support duties as assigned.

Critical Skills and Capabilities:
1-3 years' experience working at increasing levels of responsibility within a Training System Knowledge of Learning Management Systems Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms Experience in Industrial Setting strongly preferred Facilitation and/or Presentation Skills Ability to collaborate & partner w/stakeholders What we offer: Corporate culture based on safety, loyalty, integrity, and respect.
