Job Description
A Skills Trainer is someone who provides adults with developmental disabilities vital resources and support to promote independence at home and in the community. to make an essential difference in someone's life! On My Own Independent Living Services is hiring Skills Trainers in the South Lake Tahoe area to support clients with Child Protective Services (CPS) involvement. We offer flexible scheduling for both part-time and full-time employment. We provide paid, on the job training and support. As a Skills Trainer specializing in family reunification , you will provide individualized support and instruction to help parents develop the skills needed to increase their independence, strengthen their parenting abilities, and successfully work toward reunification with their children.
Skills Trainer Daily Tasks Include:
Provide individualized Independent Living Skills (ILS) training to parents and families involved with Child Protective Services (CPS). Support families in developing routines, organization, problem-solving, and household management skills. Assist parents in building skills that promote a safe, stable, and supportive home environment. Work collaboratively with families, social workers, and other members of the support team. Follow individualized service plans and document progress toward identified goals. Encourage families to build confidence, self-sufficiency, and long-term independence. Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and accurate documentation. What do you need to become a Skills Trainer? Must be 18 years of age or older. Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance in employee's name. Skilled at teaching and modeling practical life and parenting skills.
Compassionate, patient, and nonjudgmental. Comfortable working one-on-one with families in their homes and community settings. Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
