Job Summary:
The Training & Development Specialist is responsible for enhancing individual and organizational performance across the Mill through the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of effective learning and training solutions. This role requires a continuous-improvement mindset and a strong understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning methodologies, and project management practices. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Training & Development Specialist will work closely with mill leadership, subject matter experts (SMEs), trainers, and employees to identify development needs, create engaging learning experiences, and support workforce capability growth. Success in this role requires excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives while driving measurable business results. This position plays a critical role in developing employee skills, supporting operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous learning throughout the Mill.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and evaluate instructional-led, virtual, and e-learning training solutions that support workforce upskilling and employee development
Create and maintain training curricula, learning materials, job aids, and other educational resources
Manage learning management system (LMS) content, assignments, reporting, and training records
Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in learning and development
Support employee onboarding, orientation, annual training requirements, and recurring compliance initiatives
Conduct training needs assessments and partner with departments to identify skill gaps and performance improvement opportunities
Gather, analyze, and interpret data to determine learning needs and recommend appropriate development solutions
Collaborate with mill leaders, SMEs, and trainers to develop and deliver effective learning programs. Measure and evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Promote a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and employee engagement
Support special projects and other Human Resources initiatives as assigned
Qualifications/Professional Experiences:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Instructional Design or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
Minimum of three years of experience in training, education, learning and development, or a related field
Experience developing and delivering training programs for adult learners
Experience with e-learning platforms, authoring tools, and Learning Management Systems (LMSs)
Proficiency in curriculum / instructional design and training material development
Strong understanding of adult learning principles and effective facilitation techniques
Ability to assess training needs and develop practical, business-focused learning solutions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively across functions and organizational levels
Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
