Barkonia is a modern, cage-free dog daycare located in Alameda. We're growing fast and building a grooming program focused on safety, quality, and a great client experience for both pets and their owners. Our mission is to treat dogs like family and provide a clean, positive space for them to thrive.
Position Overview:
We're seeking a skilled Dog Groomer who can confidently perform haircuts, baths, nail trims, deshedding, and sanitary maintenance for our daycare and boarding clients. You'll have consistent access to dogs already enrolled at Barkonia and a growing list of grooming appointments as we expand.
Key Responsibilities:
Full grooms, bath & tidy, deshedding, and basic grooming services Comfortably handle dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments Keep a clean, safe grooming area and follow sanitation protocols Communicate with staff and clients about each pet's grooming needs Maintain a calm and positive demeanor even with anxious dogs
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of professional grooming experience (or recent grooming school graduate) Must be able to complete 4-6 dogs/day depending on breed and groom type Strong knowledge of breed-specific grooming techniques Comfortable working in a high-energy, cage-free environment Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule System will auto reject candidates with no grooming experience Preferred but not required:
AKC S.A.F.E.
Groomer Certification or equivalent Pet First Aid or CPR Certified Experience working in daycares, salons, or veterinary settings

Compensation:

Hourly rate of $25-$45, commensurate with experience and certifications Profit-sharing arrangement, offering a percentage of your grooming revenue Hybrid model combining hourly pay and revenue share Final structure will be determined based on your qualifications and preferred arrangement.
