Prairie Peak Kennels in Battle Lake, Minnesota, a voted #1 grooming facility in Otter Tail County, is growing our client base, and we are looking for another dog groomer to join our professional team at our Battle Lake location. We also have another location in Fargo and are looking to hire a groomer there or a groomer willing to commute is a third option as well but not required. Whether you are an experienced groomer with an established skill set, a newer groomer looking for mentorship, or someone with animal-care experience who wants to learn the profession, we would love to meet you. We are open to a wide range of experience levels, schedules, and availability—and we are willing to provide FREE in-house training for the right person. This is an opportunity to build a rewarding grooming career without having to start a business, find your own customers, manage a building, insurance, taxes, or handle all the administrative work yourself including the occasional difficult client. Prairie Peak has an established and growing customer base, a strong reputation in the community, and dogs already coming through our doors for daycare, boarding, training, enrichment, and grooming. We will help fill your schedule so you can focus on what you do best: caring for dogs and producing beautiful, professional results.

Compensation:
Depending on experience our commission range is approximately 55%-65%(after bonuses and tips are figured) , depending on experience, skill level, productivity, and responsibilities, plus tips, benefits, and performance bonuses. This is equivalent to $26 - $36 dollars an hour. Commission-based compensation gives motivated groomers the opportunity to directly increase their income as their experience, efficiency, schedule, and client following grow plus we have performance bonuses and loyalty bonuses available. Why Groom at Prairie Peak? Join our small team of 7 at Prairie Peak so we can work as a small unit to help serve the dogs in need in our community. Some dog owners in Battle Lake drive out of town to get service because we are booked. We aim to serve ALL dogs in our area and bring others clients in from outside our community due to our reputation for quality service. We will also help provide relocation assistance as needed.

Grooming Services May Include Depending on your current skill level and training, responsibilities may include: Professional bathing, drying, brushing, and coat preparation Full haircuts and breed-standard or customer-requested styles Clipper work, scissoring, blending, and finishing Deshedding and undercoat removal Dematting and coat restoration Sanitary trims, feet-and-fanny trims, and face trims Nail trimming and nail grinding Ear cleaning and ear-hair removal when appropriate Teeth brushing and other grooming add-on services Grooming dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and coat types Identifying skin, coat, ear, tick, matting, or general health concerns Communicating observations and grooming recommendations to clients Maintaining a clean, sanitary, organized, and professional grooming area Keeping accurate grooming notes and client preferences Recommending appropriate grooming schedules and follow-up appointments Treating every dog with patience, kindness, confidence, and respect Cleaning of workspace and working along side our current groomer at times. Less-experienced candidates may begin with bathing, drying, brushing, nail care, sanitation, and grooming assistance before advancing into complete haircuts and higher-level grooming services. Character, dependability, coachability, animal-handling ability, and attention to detail are extremely important to us. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to: Safely lift and reposition dogs weighing approximately 50 pounds Stand for extended periods Bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive grooming movements Safely control dogs of different sizes and energy levels Work around water, dryers, grooming tools, cleaning products, hair, and pet dander Maintain composure in an active dog-care environment Our Mission and Culture Prairie Peak Kennels is a family-owned dog-care company established in 2013.
