Hands-On Experience:
Gain valuable, direct experience in animal care, behavior, and handling. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Counselor to join our team! In this role, you will be the backbone of our daily operations, providing exceptional care for the animals in our charge and ensuring all of their physical and emotional needs are met. Your day-to-day will include feeding, walking, cleaning kennels, and engaging the animals in both individual and group play. You will also be responsible for keeping precise records of our animals, tracking their unique temperaments, preferences, and daily care. The ideal candidate loves animals, understands safe handling procedures, and thrives both independently and as a collaborative team player.
Responsibilities Daily Care:
Meet the physical and emotional needs of all animals under our care, including feeding, administering medication, and keeping them comfortable.
Exercise & Enrichment:
Walk, play with, and socialise the animals to keep them happy and active.
Sanitation:
Deep-clean kennels, play spaces, and work areas multiple times daily to maintain a safe, sanitary environment.
Facility Upkeep:
Wash bedding, sanitize toys, and keep supplies organized.
Customer Service:
Warmly greet and assist clients, visitors, and pet parents.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed, accurate records of all animals' behaviors, health, and daily activities.
Qualifications Experience:
Prior experience working with animals (professional or volunteer) is highly desired.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with safe animal handling procedures and best practices.
Traits:
Strong organizational skills, a high level of punctuality, and a collaborative \"team player\" mindset.
Reliability:
Must have dependable personal transportation.
