Part-Time Animal Care Technician Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and hardworking Part-Time Animal Care Technician to join our team. We are looking for someone who has experience with large-breed dogs, takes initiative, and is a self-starter who sees what needs to be done without always waiting for direction . Schedule & Pay 20-30 hours per week Starting pay: $16.00 per hour Rotating weekends and holidays Evening shifts for feeding, medications, and dog care 4pm to 8pm Occasional early morning shifts beginning at 6:00 AM Flexibility is required based on the needs of the rescue Additional hours may occasionally be available or needed Because our dogs depend on us 365 days a year, reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and teamwork are essential. Responsibilities Clean, sanitize, and disinfect kennels and dog living areas. Feed dogs, provide fresh water, and administer medications as directed. Monitor dogs for changes in health, appetite, or behavior and promptly report concerns. Safely handle large-breed dogs using appropriate handling techniques. Clean animal waste, including feces, urine, vomit, blood, and other bodily fluids. Complete laundry and help maintain clean, organized kennel and common areas. Provide enrichment, walks, socialization, and interaction with the dogs. Assist with veterinary appointments, transports, meet-and-greets, and adoptions as needed. Maintain accurate feeding, medication, and daily care records. Restock supplies and notify management when inventory is running low. Ensure kennel doors, gates, and fencing remain secure. Follow all safety, sanitation, biosecurity, and animal-handling procedures. Assist coworkers and perform other duties as needed to support daily rescue operations. Qualifications Previous experience handling large-breed dogs is required. Must be at least 18 years old. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance. Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision. Strong attention to detail and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while also being a team player. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Able to recognize changes in a dog's health or behavior. Comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Willing to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Comfortable with the physical and sometimes unpleasant realities of animal care. We Need a Self-Starter This position is about more than completing a daily checklist. When assigned duties are finished, we expect employees to look for what else needs to be done rather than waiting to be told. That might mean spending extra time with a dog who needs socialization, cleaning or organizing an area that needs attention, restocking supplies, helping a coworker, or learning more about an individual dog's personality and needs.
