Job Description

Job Overview:
Motley Zoo Animal Rescue (www.motleyzoo.org) is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation that has been in the local area since 2009 and has rescued and rehomed more than 5,000 animals. While the mission is foster-based and volunteer-powered, we do have some paid roles in the operation of our boarding kennels, from which the proceeds support the rescue mission and animals' veterinary care. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dog Agent/Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to the animals in our care. This role involves both beloved, owned animals and rescue animals seeking adoptive homes. This position requires a strong love of animals, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. To be considered for this role, you must have one year of animal handling experience, whether that is volunteering or a paid role. Core hours for the boarding kennel are between 7:30am-9pm Sunday
  • Saturday; shifts are between 4-8 hours.
All positions require a minimum of two night shifts (1p-9p or 3p-9p.) and either a Saturday or Sunday each week.
Duties:
  • Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, and exercise
  • Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
  • Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing and nail trims
  • Administer medications
  • Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to management
  • Provide exceptional customer service to pet owners
Requirements:
  • Previous experience and knowledge of animal handling is required
  • Must have reliable transportation to accommodate schedule
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with pet owners and team members
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and standing for long periods of time
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
