Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Dog Trainer to join our growing business in Mill Valley. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with dogs and owners alike while also looking to develop into a future leadership or management role within the dog care business. Or if you are someone interested in changing their life and developing skills that aren't going to be outsourced to AI on love dogs this might be for you. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of canine behavior, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an interest in expanding their abilities. As our company continues to grow, there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to take on additional responsibilities including team leadership and operational management of the three person existing group and collaboration the 30 person larger organization. Responsibilities Deliver one-to-one and group dog training sessions in accordance with the program created by our Director of Training Assess dog behaviour and create customised training plans to address behavioral issues Support clients with behaviour modification and obedience training Provide guidance and education to clients Work with dogs of various breeds, temperaments, and behavioural needs Maintain accurate training progress notes, videos and emails. Ensure a safe, clean, and professional training environment Assist with puppy socialisation and enrichment activities Support junior staff, contribute to team development, collaborate with other departments and help grow the business.
Qualifications :
This role is ideal someone who likes working outdoors as your day will be spent between at the facility, beach or dog park. If you like staying in an office sitting in a cubicle this is not the job for you. If you have some experience multi-tasking many high priority responsibilities and are able to maintain a positive, patient attitude while being barked at you will thrive. Dogs (and their owners) can sometimes be unpredictable and this position requires the ability to quickly adapt to changes, comfortable in making decisions and able to communicate clearly both to canines and their human parents. You must have the ability to think critically, comfortable taking direction and interested in learning. This is a physically demanding role that requires you to be active and always moving. We are now looking to add another person to our Alpha Dog training team who values: Providing an outstanding customer service experience Excellent communication skills Self-motivation and responsibility Willingness to grow and develop a new expertise Being proactive with a strong work ethic and supporting your team mates Engaging with staff. dogs and their owners Being part of a creating a safe, fun and clean environment What AlphaDog needs from you is : Patience and affection when teaching an animal a new skill An ability to follow directions from your instructor as well as other team members A Commitment to learning and completing your training A Long-term commitment to Alpha Dog An interest in a stable full time position with the opportunity for growth (if you want it) An ability to work five full time shifts a week The ability to lift at least 50 lbs. The ability to work outdoors in all seasons The ability to stand for up to 8 hours Future Management Progression For the right candidate, this role offers a pathway into a management position, including opportunities to: Oversee daily training operations Mentor and support additional trainers Assist with recruitment and onboarding Help grow and improve training programs Contribute to client retention and business development Helpful Requirements Previous professional dog training experience preferred but not essential Strong understanding of canine behavior Excellent communication and customer service skills Calm, patient, and confident handling approach with animals, clients and coworkers Ability to work independently and within a team Reliable and organised with strong time management skills Membership in National Dog Training organizations qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not necessary Driving licence Familiarity with Social Media.
