This lead handler role involves providing exceptional care with pickup & drop-off, ensuring clear communication to the app and owners text chats. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple dogs safely and effectively. Duties Walk dogs of various sizes and breeds, ensuring their safety and well-being during outings. Transport up to 5 dogs in your vehicle. Monitor each dog's behavior and health during walks, reporting any concerns to the owner. Provide basic training commands during walks to reinforce good behavior. Maintain a clean and safe environment by picking up after dogs and ensuring proper leash handling. Ability to take quality photo's of the dog walk, sending these to our app. Communicate with pet owners and lead handler regarding their dog's needs, preferences, behavioral abnormalities and any issues that arise during walks. Assist in providing additional pet care services as needed, such as feeding or administering medication. Report and communicate with me any client cancellations, additions. Professional athletic business casual attire for walking.
Part-time:
8-14 hours a week (weekdays & weekends) Skills (Recommended, not required) Experience in animal care or pet sitting is highly desirable. Knowledge of dog handling techniques and animal restraint methods is essential. Familiarity with dog training principles is a plus, enhancing the walking experience for both the dog and owner. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with pet owners, prospective clients and understand their requirements. Ability to manage multiple dogs at once while maintaining control and safety during walks. (Optional) Background as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician can be beneficial in understanding canine health needs. Pay Structure Weekly electronic payment (Sunday). $20 per dog, max of 10 dogs per session. Other pay includes tips, referrals, boarding, sitting, & check-ins Each session is 2-3 hours; including including the walk, pickups and drop-off
Note:
In-person training is required for group dog walking, including handling up to 5 dogs at once. Training will also cover quality control in communication, transportation, and managing dog reactivity.
