Sit Means Sit Tampa is looking for a motivated, dependable Dog Trainer to join our team at our Brandon training facility. Professional dog training experience is not required . We provide on-the-job training and will teach you our training system. Experience working with or handling animals is preferred. We're looking for someone who is coachable, takes initiative, uses good judgment, and can work independently without needing constant supervision. Just as importantly, you need to be patient with dogs, comfortable working with people, and someone who contributes positively to the team. This is a hands-on job. Some days are incredibly rewarding. Some days you'll get dirty, deal with difficult dogs, solve problems, and have to adjust when things don't go according to plan. If you enjoy learning, working with animals, and seeing both dogs and their owners make progress, it can also be a pretty great way to spend your workday. What You'll Do As a Dog Trainer, your responsibilities may include: Training dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments Working with dogs that may be reactive, fearful, or aggressive Working with our Board & Train, Day Train and Private Lesson programs Conducting individual lessons with clients Assisting with and eventually leading group training classes, currently held Saturdays at 10 AM and Wednesdays at 7 PM Communicating with clients and providing excellent customer service Taking photos and videos of dogs for client updates and social media Helping maintain a clean, organized, and professional training facility Participating in marketing and community outreach Using computers, tablets, smartphones, and the applications we use to manage our business Who We're Looking For Our ideal candidate: Must be at least 18 years old Has reliable transportation Is patient and comfortable working with dogs of all temperaments Is physically capable of safely handling dogs of all sizes, including large and strong dogs Is coachable and willing to learn our training system Takes initiative and doesn't need constant supervision Has good judgment and practical problem-solving skills Is dependable, organized, trustworthy, and flexible Communicates well and enjoys working with people Works well as part of a team Is comfortable getting dirty. Dogs aren't exactly known for keeping their workspaces spotless. Is comfortable using computers, tablets, and smartphones Has previous animal-handling experience, although professional dog training experience is not required Schedule This is currently a part-time position averaging approximately 20-25 hours per week . Our primary working days for this position are Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday . Weekend availability is required, and Saturdays are typically one of our busiest days. Our schedule can change based on training volume and business needs, so we're looking for someone with some flexibility to work additional or different days during busier periods. Some evening and holiday availability is also required. Holiday shifts are typically shorter working days.
