Dog Daycare Attendant (Weekends)

Job Description

Job description We are looking for a motivated, responsible, and energetic dog lover to help us keep an eye on all of the pups on the weekends! We are looking for someone available 8AM-6:30PM most Saturdays and Sundays and who can work select flexible weekday shifts to keep up with training. (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays preferred!) As part of the job, you will.....
  • Entertain our canine companions by playing with them, working on training, and giving them belly rubs!
  • Effectively communicate with pet owners about their dogs behavior and other basic customer service tasks such as accepting payments and making reservations.
  • Help with animal care such as feeding and administering medications.
  • Clean up after dog messes and sanitize the facility.
  • Helping maintain the property and keep things organized and functional. You must be able to....
  • Make availability most Saturday and Sundays 8AM-6:30PM, we do allow some days off but need someone who uis generally available most weekends. Also, especially early on in employment, availability some weekday shifts to get trained how to manage the pack and meet the rest of the staff.
  • Possess good customer service skills and a fun but professional demeanor
  • Lift 50+ lbs (some of our dogs are big and strong)
  • Stay on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Be comfortable dealing with poop, vomit, and other dog messes
  • Have reliable transportation and be able to show up in a timely manner
  • Be comfortable around large dogs and big groups of dogs. We have up to 80 dogs on weekdays, and up to 30 on weekends, some of which are well over 100 lbs. You must be comfortable with all of our pack and be willing to work in an extremely active environment.
  • Be able to stay vigilant in regards to our dogs safety, you always need to have an ear and eye on the pack.
  • Must be comfortable intervening with escalating behavior and rough play.
This is NOT just playing with puppies. We deal with a large pack and a lot of the day is spent correcting behavior and taking care of everyone. There is still plenty of time to interact and play with the dogs, but please know there is a lot more to this job thanthat. It is somewhat like being a camp counselor or pre-k teacher for dogs. You'll be surrounded by pups all day and are in a position where you can truly make a difference in their lives by giving them attention and guidance. But sometimes that guidance comes in the form of discipline and correction. If you truly LOVE dogs then this is an AMAZING place to be.
