Our programs combine training, socialization, and real-world skill building in a structured daycare and boarding environment. We are looking for motivated, dependable team members who love working with dogs and want to grow in the dog care industry. This position plays an important role in both dog handling and facility operations, helping create a safe, engaging environment where dogs can learn, socialize, and build confidence. We are also looking for candidates interested in helping operate our Doggie School Bus program, assisting with daily dog pick-up and drop-off transportation as part of their shift. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, thrives in a structured environment, and takes pride in helping dogs succeed. Schedule This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week. The schedule will primarily consist of a combination of: Morning/Day shifts between 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM Up to three evening shifts per week between 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM Weekend availability is required, including at least every other weekend. Key Responsibilities Dog Handling & Training Support Safely handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Observe and evaluate dog behavior and body language. Assist in implementing training exercises and reinforcing commands such as sit, stay, place, recall, disengagement, and leash manners. Support structured play and socialization in group environments. Help maintain calm, balanced group dynamics while promoting safe interactions. Doggie School Bus Transportation (for interested and qualified candidates) Safely transport dogs to and from our facility using our company dog transport vehicle. Assist with loading and unloading dogs. Provide reliable, safe, and professional pick-up and drop-off service for clients. Facility Care & Operations Follow established cleaning and sanitation procedures using pet-safe products. Maintain clean play areas, kennels, training spaces, and common areas. Assist with front desk responsibilities, including checking dogs in and out and communicating with clients. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Communicate observations regarding dog behavior, health, and training progress with the management team. Qualifications Previous experience working with dogs (training, daycare, boarding, grooming, veterinary clinic, pet sitting, or similar) is preferred. Strong understanding of dog behavior and body language is a plus. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Patience, confidence, consistency, and a calm presence around dogs. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, physically active environment. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required for Doggie School Bus drivers). Willingness to learn and grow within Adventure is Barking's training philosophy and programs. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and remain physically active throughout an entire shift. Comfortable working in a loud, energetic environment with dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.
