Job Description

Pawfect Pupps is growing our team and looking for dependable, confident, hardworking Canine Handlers who genuinely enjoy working with dogs and want to build strong animal-care skills. This is not a job where you simply play with dogs all day. Our Canine Handlers are responsible for safely supervising groups of dogs, maintaining structured playrooms, recognizing canine body language, keeping our facility clean, and helping provide a safe and positive experience for every dog in our care. We are currently looking to add 3 strong team members who are interested in becoming reliable, long-term members of our team. Schedule Requirements Candidates must be available to work: A minimum of 3 days per week At least one Saturday shift per month At least one Sunday shift per month A combination of morning, daytime, or closing shifts depending on availability and business needs Please do not apply if you are unable to meet the weekend requirement. What You'll Do Safely supervise groups of dogs in a structured daycare environment Learn and recognize canine body language, play styles, stress signals, and escalating behaviors Redirect inappropriate or unsafe play before it becomes a problem Maintain control of your playroom while still allowing dogs to have fun Follow individual feeding, medication, boarding, and care instructions Assist with feeding, potty breaks, crate rotations, enrichment, and boarding routines Maintain accurate communication regarding the dogs in your care Clean and sanitize playrooms, kennels, crates, bowls, floors, bedding, and common areas Assist with laundry, dishes, waste removal, and general facility upkeep Communicate clearly with managers and fellow team members Follow established safety procedures and handling protocols Treat every dog with patience, respect, and appropriate handling Who We're Looking For Our strongest handlers are people who are: Dependable — your team and the dogs are counting on you to show up Observant — you notice small changes in behavior before they become bigger problems Confident — you're comfortable working around dogs of different breeds, sizes, personalities, and energy levels Coach-able — you're willing to learn our handling methods and accept feedback Hardworking — you're willing to clean, move, bend, stand, and stay active throughout your shift Team-oriented — you communicate and help where you're needed Calm under pressure — you can think clearly when a playroom gets loud or a situation changes quickly Genuinely interested in canine behavior — you want to understand dogs, not just be around them Previous professional dog-handling, daycare, boarding, veterinary, shelter, grooming, or training experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person with the right attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn. Physical Requirements This is an active position.
Candidates must be comfortable:
Standing and walking for extended periods Bending, squatting, kneeling, and moving throughout a shift Handling strong and energetic dogs Working around barking, dog hair, water, cleaning products, urine, feces, and occasional vomit Cleaning and performing physical tasks throughout the day Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions What You Can Expect From Us Pawfect Pupps is a structured daycare and boarding facility where safety, teamwork, communication, and continuing education matter. New handlers receive hands-on training in our routines, safety procedures, playroom management, and canine body language. Team members who demonstrate reliability, strong handling skills, initiative, and leadership have opportunities to take on greater responsibility as they develop. We're looking for people who want to become excellent canine handlers, not simply people looking for an easy job around dogs. To Apply Please submit your resume through Indeed. In your application, tell us briefly why you are interested in working professionally with dogs and what your weekly availability looks like. Applicants must be able to commit to at least 3 days per week, including one Saturday and one Sunday shift per month.
