Job Description

Do you love teaching, training, and sharing your knowledge of hair, nail, and esthetics? This is your opportunity to inspire and educate students on their cosmetology career journey. Northwest College School of Beauty (NWC) is searching for licensed Cosmetology Instructors for its growing Oregon campuses to add to our team. We are looking for experienced professionals who are licensed in a combination of hair design, esthetics, and/or nails. Experience in multiple aspects of cosmetology education is ideal; however, new teachers with at least two years of industry experience are welcome and encouraged to apply! We train new teachers for the first 90 days on the Milady Master Educator curriculum.
Job Type:
Full Time Day schedule is Full Time, Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m $20-$25/hour depending on experience, licensing and schedule (night shift pays a higher rate) In return we offer: A stable and supportive work environment with reliable, steady income. SUMMARY NWC
Instructors are thoughtful and caring educators who are responsible for classroom and salon floor instruction, practical and hands on instruction, and supervision to ensure students at all levels learn essential techniques, skills, and attributes necessary to be successful in the Spa/Salon environment. In addition, Instructors supervise students and provide subject matter that will contribute to their development and proficiency as Cosmetologists. Cosmetology Instructor Responsibilities Coach and mentor students, including those who have difficulty in a learning environment, in the classroom and on the salon floor while maintaining a professional demeanor. Provide information on the latest trends in the industry, including staying up to date on trade publications, networking with peers, and participating in trade organizations and conferences. Plan and develop various student learning activities applicable to hands-on lab work, practical demonstrations, and techniques that motivate students. Teach academic theory; assess the progress of students on a regular basis. Evaluate students in attaining goals and objectives. Regularly oversee student testing. Review and regularly inform the supervisor of students out on leave, missing time/hours, and make contact to keep students in school. Maintain student attendance and grade records. Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-organized salon floor and ensure workstations are immaculate as well as shampoo area, floor, restrooms, etc. as per State of Oregon law. Ensure a proper level of professionalism is maintained throughout the campus while creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Other duties and projects may be assigned.
INSTRUCTOR REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 current and active industry licenses and experience in the last 5 years - in a combination of Hair Design, Nail Technology, and/or Esthetics is preferred; licenses in all areas of cosmetology is ideal; 2 license combo or Nail license with flexible shift availability Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a salon or cosmetology program Previous teaching experience or instructional environment experience preferred, but not required.
