MEN'S WARDROBE STYLIST
Help our male clients look like the best version of themselves. Refined Personal Styling | Cary, NC We're looking for a Men's Wardrobe Stylist with exceptional taste, strong instincts, and a genuine understanding of how clothes can change the way a man feels and moves through the world. This is not a position for someone who simply enjoys fashion. It's for someone who can walk into a client's closet and see the story his wardrobe could tell. Someone who understands that the goal isn't to make every man look trendy, expensive, or like a fashion editorial. The goal is to figure out who he is, where he's going, what he needs, and how we can use clothing to help him show up with confidence.
ABOUT US
We are a personal styling business focused on creating thoughtful, highly personalized wardrobes for real people and real lives. Our clients come to us because they want help navigating their wardrobes, shopping more intentionally, getting dressed more easily, and ultimately feeling better about how they present themselves. We work with clients one-on-one and also take on projects that can include wardrobe edits, personal shopping, styling for special occasions, photoshoots, television/media appearances, and other creative styling opportunities.
THE ROLE
As our Men's Wardrobe Stylist, you will work directly with clients to develop wardrobes that are personal, practical, polished, and distinctly theirs. You'll be expected to think beyond individual pieces and understand the bigger picture: What does this client already own? What is he missing? What actually fits him? What fits his lifestyle? What is worth investing in? What can be altered? What should be replaced? And how do we make getting dressed easier tomorrow morning? You'll help turn those answers into a wardrobe that works.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
Conduct wardrobe consultations and closet edits Identify wardrobe gaps and create strategic shopping lists Build complete outfits—not just recommend individual items Shop for clients Source clothing, footwear, accessories, and specialty pieces Make thoughtful recommendations based on a client's lifestyle, profession, personality, budget, and goals Evaluate fit and understand when something needs to be tailored versus replaced Create versatile wardrobes where pieces work together rather than exist as isolated purchases Style clients for work, travel, social events, dates, weddings, media appearances, and everyday life Coordinate purchases, returns, exchanges, alterations, and other wardrobe logistics Prepare and organize clothing for client appointments and styling projects Maintain detailed client notes and wardrobe information Photograph outfits and create outfit references when appropriate Stay informed about menswear brands, retailers, designers, fit, fabrics, and emerging trends Assist with photoshoots, media appearances, events, and other creative styling projects Communicate with clients throughout the styling process and provide an exceptional level of service
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT MOST
Taste. We don't need someone who knows every designer or can recite every menswear trend from the last ten years. We need someone with an eye. You should instinctively understand why one jacket works and another doesn't. Why changing the rise of a trouser can completely change a silhouette. Why a $75 shirt can sometimes be better than a $300 shirt. Why a client who says he "doesn't care about clothes" may simply have never had someone show him what the right clothes can do. You should be able to recognize trends without feeling the need to constantly chase them. You should understand that personal style is personal. And you should have the confidence to say, "No, that's not it. Let's try this instead."
YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT
IF... Friends regularly ask you where you got something or how they should wear something You notice fit and proportion before you notice the brand You can walk into a store and immediately identify what is worth pulling You understand the difference between looking fashionable and looking well dressed You know how to make someone look elevated without making them feel uncomfortable You genuinely enjoy figuring people out You are curious about what makes someone tick You can work with a man whose style is completely different from your own You are comfortable telling a client when something isn't working—but can do it with tact You have high standards for details You don't need someone constantly telling you what to do You are organized enough to manage the unglamorous parts of styling, too You are comfortable with the fact that personal styling involves a surprising amount of logistics You are excited by the challenge of finding the perfect piece, not just an acceptable one An important note : this is a part time role, with the opportunity for growth. Our ideal candidate is looking to make a gradual transition into the role of Men's Personal Stylist from an existing position. The number of clients assigned will grow over time as experience is gained and with a proven track record.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in personal styling, menswear, fashion, merchandising, retail, wardrobe styling, image consulting, or a related field is a plus. But we're less interested in checking a particular box than we are in seeing what you can do. If you have a strong styling portfolio, personal fashion platform, retail background, fashion education, or simply an exceptional understanding of menswear and a demonstrated ability to put together incredible looks, we want to hear from you. A great eye cannot always be taught. We value that. This role requires initiative, flexibility, follow-through, and ownership. We work in a client-service business. That means details matter, and our relationships with clients matter. If a return needs to go out, it goes out. If a client needs an answer, they shouldn't have to chase us. If something isn't working, we expect you to notice it and help solve it. If you commit to something, we expect you to follow through. We want someone who understands that the little things are the big things when you're working with someone's personal image.
WHAT YOU'LL GET
The opportunity to work directly with a diverse range of male clients Hands-on experience building complete wardrobes from the ground up Exposure to personal styling, personal shopping, wardrobe management, and media/creative styling The opportunity to develop your own styling expertise and client relationships A creative, collaborative environment Flexibility and variety—no two clients or projects are exactly alike The opportunity to be part of a growing boutique styling business
HOW TO APPLY
We'd love to know who you are—not just where you've worked.
Please send us:
1. Your resume 2. A brief note telling us why you think you'd be great at styling men 3. Examples of your styling work, if available 4. Your Instagram, portfolio, or other social media account if it reflects your personal style or styling work And tell us this: If you had $1,000 to spend on a man's wardrobe, what would you buy—and why? We aren't looking for one "correct" answer. We're interested in how you think.
