COSTUME ORGANIZER
(Seasonal - Fall Program)
Organization Overview:
We are a children's theater company, based in Greenwich, CT, dedicated to creating high-quality, engaging productions for young performers and their families. Our programs emphasize creativity, collaboration, and confidence-building in a supportive environment. A key part of our success is our extensive costume inventory, which allows us to costume productions efficiently while maintaining a high visual standard. Our fall season includes Seussical Kids and Winnie the Pooh.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Costume Organizer to manage and maintain our costume inventory and support the costuming of our fall theater productions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys systems, organization, and working behind the scenes to bring productions to life. The Costume Organizer will work closely with our Program Director to primarily utilize our existing costume stock, while also identifying and sourcing additional pieces as needed.
Location:
Costume storage unit in Port Chester, NY, with collaboration alongside the OAA staff in Greenwich, CT as needed. Storage unit is about a 10 minute drive from the rehearsal space in Greenwich.
Key Responsibilities:
Organize, catalog, and maintain all costumes and accessories within our storage unit. Utilize the StageStock inventory system to accurately track, label, and manage costume pieces Regularly audit inventory to ensure items are properly stored, accessible, and in good condition Work closely with the Program Director to pull costumes for productions, prioritizing the use of existing inventory Prepare costumes for rehearsals and performances (sorting, labeling, minor alternations) Assist with returns, restocking, and post-show organization Launder costumes after each production before returning to storage.
Qualifications:
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail Experience with inventory systems (StageStock experience a plus, but not required) Interest or background in theater, costumes, or wardrobe management preferred Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with production staff Comfortable working in a storage environment and moving storage boxes and bins.
Schedule & Commitment:
Seasonal role aligned with fall production schedule of August 17-November 27, 2026. Flexible hours, with increased availability needed during pre-production and performance periods
Additional Notes:
This role is critical to the smooth operation of our productions. The ideal candidate takes pride in creating order, maintaining systems, and supporting a creative team in a fast-paced environment. There is potential for this position to grow into a full-time role if the relationship is a strong fit following the fall season.
