This would include, but not limited to, meeting with families to coordinate funeral and cremation services, embalming, prep room inventory/cleaning, setting up rooms for celebrations, greeting and escorting guests, transporting of the deceased from location of passing to funeral home, driving company vehicles for services or errands as needed, cleaning vehicles and the funeral home. The availability to work beyond standard business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, is required. Must love dogs. Job Responsibilities Arrange and conduct funeral and cremation celebrations in a professional, organized and caring manner Cares for the deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which may include: Removals and transfers Lifting of deceased human remains Dressing and casketing Coordinating and assisting with funeral service and visitation Delivery of flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos Assists with funeral services by: Coordinating the parking of cars Ushering Driving funeral vehicles Assisting at chapel and church services Assisting at the cemetery Delivering flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families Participating at special functions Assists with general office duties such as preparing reports as needed Assists with the maintenance of vehicles, the facility and property; receive caskets and other funeral home supplies as well as place into inventory and carrying out any other responsibilities that may be reasonably delegated by management Answering phones, preparing reports as necessary and participating in staff meetings Performs other duties as assigned, including caring for our chocolate Labrador. Minimum Requirements Education Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science Current Florida Funeral Director/Embalming license Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record required to operate company owned vehicles Experience Minimum of one year of previous work experience in a funeral home/care center Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good driving record and valid driver's license Previous customer service and/or sales experience would be a definite asset Knowledge of computers Above average communication skills High level of compassion and integrity Problem solving skills Ability to multi task and set priorities Detail oriented Professional and team player Work Environment Work indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions Limited amount of local travel Professional Dress is required when in contact with families, partial uniform provided Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up 6 hours per day Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per day Climbing stairs within the home Physical Demands Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usage Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 300 pounds occasionally; push/pull up to 300 pounds Work Hours Holidays, nights, and weekends as need; standard business hours regularly Join our dedicated team where your expertise will help families find comfort during their most vulnerable moments!
