Job Description

Knight Funeral Homes & Crematory, 903 Hartford Avenue, White River Jct. VT with branch location in Windsor, VT.
Pay:
$60,000 to $80,000 with room for growth with positive annual reviews

JOB DESCRIPTION
Knight Funeral Homes is a family owned and operated business, founded in 1941, with two locations and a crematory. We are located in Central Vermont along the New Hampshire border only two hours from Boston and three hours from Montreal. The area is rich in outdoor activities and nearby Dartmouth College brings many cultural offerings as well as a world-class medical facility and many employment opportunities for anyone relocating with you. We are seeking an empathetic, detail-oriented, licensed funeral director to join our experienced, devoted team. An ideal candidate would be looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of grieving families and have a commitment to a high level of excellence. A team player is a must as we strive to create an environment that makes our often-challenging profession rewarding both personally and professionally. DUTIES
  • Transportation of deceased including heavy lifting of caskets and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Prepare and file legal documents such as authorizations, death certificates, permits and both at need and preneed funeral contracts.
  • Assist families in merchandise decisions.
  • Preparation of deceased including posing features, dressing and cosmetizing.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of memorial events including visitations, funerals, memorial services, graveside services, and witness cremations.
  • Arrange details for dispositions including cremation, terramation, alkaline hydrolysis, traditional and green burial.
  • Crematory operations
  • Ensure compliance of OSHA, Federal Trade Commission, and state regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, phone, and email) with ability to work through complex family dynamics under difficult situations.
  • Ability to work alternating weekends and a rotating after hours, on-call transfer schedule.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn word processing, publishing, and funeral home software.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Vermont funeral directors license within 6 months.
  • Driver's license in good standing
  • A licensed embalmer would be eligible for upper pay scale but is not required.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
