Veterinary Assistant - No Experience Required / Will Train We are looking for a dependable, compassionate person to join our veterinary team. We can teach you the veterinary skills—we're looking for the right person. Previous veterinary experience is a plus, but it is not required . You do not need to already know how to perform all of the duties of a veterinary assistant. We are willing to train someone who is eager to learn, dependable, hardworking, and comfortable around animals. Schedule This is a full-time position requiring availability for:
Monday-Friday:
8:00 AM-12:00 PM and 1:00 PM-5:00
PM Saturday:
8:00 AM-12:00 PM Applicants must be able to reliably work this schedule. Overtime hours are paid at time and a half. Because we work with animals and emergencies can happen, occasionally additional overtime is required . There may be times when you are expected to work through lunch or stay after 5:00 PM when an emergency or patient-care situation requires it. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Loves animals and is comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities Is not afraid of animals and is willing to learn proper handling and restraint Can lift 50lbs Is eager and willing to learn new skills Is dependable and punctual Has a strong work ethic Can follow directions and work well as part of a team Is comfortable in a busy, hands-on environment Isn't afraid to get dirty or jump in when something needs to be done Communicates well with coworkers and clients Understands that patient care sometimes requires flexibility and staying beyond normal scheduled hours Skills You Will Learn We are willing to teach the right person. As you become trained and comfortable, you will be expected to learn skills such as: Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats Giving vaccinations Performing nail trims Drawing blood Assisting with medications and treatments Assisting veterinarians during appointments and procedures Caring for hospitalized and recovering patients Preparing exam and treatment areas Assisting with basic laboratory procedures Maintaining clean and organized hospital areas Helping with patient records and client communication Veterinary experience is helpful, but attitude, dependability, work ethic, and willingness to learn are more important to us.
