Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Kennel Assistant to join our Cat Shelter team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care for cats and kittens, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supporting veterinary staff with various clinical and administrative tasks. Your enthusiasm for animal welfare and strong work ethic will help ensure the cats in our shelter receive the highest quality of care and comfort throughout their stay. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, compassionate setting focused on feline health and well-being. Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites through regular cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitation procedures Assist with duties such as feeding, grooming, and monitoring cats for signs of illness Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with tasks such as medication administration Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain safety protocols for staff and animals Assist with cat handling, restraint, and behavior management to ensure safety during kennel cleaning Qualifications Prior kennel or animal handling experience is preferred, but we will provide training for a highly motivated individual who is willing to learn Knowledge of cat and kitten behavior is advantageous Prior experience in a shelter environment or veterinary clinic is a plus Ability to perform cleaning duties efficiently while adhering to safety standards is required Skills in medication administration is desirable but not necessary Passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing compassionate cat and kitten care is a essential Join us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the cats in our shelter while advancing your career in veterinary medicine!
