Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant and Technician, where your passion for animal care and technical expertise will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, compassionate environment, supporting both routine and critical veterinary procedures. You will be instrumental in providing exceptional animal care, assisting with surgeries, managing client interactions, and maintaining a clean, safe clinic environment. Your dedication will help ensure the health, comfort, and well-being of every animal that walks through our doors. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring proper animal restraint. Perform animal husbandry duties including feeding, bathing, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas. Handle animals safely using appropriate restraint techniques for dogs and cats to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Administer medications and perform laboratory tests following aseptic techniques. Maintain accurate record keeping of patient histories, treatment plans, medication administration, and laboratory results. Support client communication by explaining procedures, answering questions about pet care, and providing education on animal welfare. Assist with laboratory work such as sample collection, processing specimens, and recording results to aid in diagnostics. Uphold strict safety protocols using personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a sterile environment during surgeries and procedures. Manage front desk responsibilities including appointment scheduling, client check-in/out, and answering phone inquiries professionally. Contribute to a clean clinic environment through regular cleaning duties including disinfecting kennels, surgical areas, and equipment. Qualifications Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is highly desirable. Experience working with animals in a veterinary or pet care setting is preferred; including dog handling and animal behavior understanding. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to perform animal medication administration, injections, and laboratory procedures. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques suitable for companion animals. Experience with surgical assistance and critical care procedures is a plus. Commitment to animal welfare with attention to detail in record keeping and treatment protocols. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of care.
