Compensation:

Starting at $15.00 per hour, based on experience, plus per diem when working away from your designated home track. Join Our Veterinary Team We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Equine Veterinary Technician/Assistant to support our veterinary team throughout the Louisiana racing circuit. This position offers the opportunity to work at two premier Thoroughbred racetracks while gaining valuable hands-on racetrack veterinary experience. The season begins at Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, Louisiana , and continues through approximately October . Team members will then transition to Delta Downs in Vinton, Louisiana , where the meet runs through approximately March , before returning to Evangeline Downs for the next season. A daily per diem is provided when working at the track that is not designated as your home base, in addition to hourly compensation. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with pre-race, post-race, and emergency examinations Support diagnostic procedures and medical treatments Prepare, clean, and maintain treatment and procedure areas Accurately document medical records and treatment information Safely handle Thoroughbred racehorses in a racing environment Maintain inventory and assist with stocking medical supplies and equipment Perform additional duties as assigned to support veterinary operations Qualifications Previous equine experience required; racetrack or performance horse experience strongly preferred Comfortable handling fit, high-energy horses Ability to work long hours in a physically demanding environment Ability to stand for extended periods and lift equipment and supplies as needed Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure Dependable, team-oriented, and committed to equine welfare Willingness and ability to travel between race meet locations as required What We Offer Competitive pay starting at $15.00 per hour, based on experience Daily per diem when assigned to work at a track other than your designated home base Opportunity to work at two premier Louisiana Thoroughbred race meets Collaborative and professional veterinary team environment Valuable year-round racetrack experience Opportunities to expand equine medical knowledge and skills
