Hollis Animal Clinic is a privately owned small animal practice located in Hollis ME. We are currently looking for a self motivated, hard working, compassionate team player. Current position would include 4 days a week 7 or 7:30a-5p and 2 Saturdays a month 7:30-12.If you are looking for a privately owned clinic that will treat you right with generous paid time off and your health insurance paid for, let talk. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and providing animal restraint using proper techniques. Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning kennels, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs to promote optimal health. Handle animals safely and confidently, including dog handling, equine experience, and general animal restraint to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Support laboratory work such as sample collection, processing tests, and maintaining accurate record keeping of patient data and treatment history. Administer medications via various routes including IV insertion and catheterization while adhering to aseptic techniques and veterinary terminology standards. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by disinfecting exam rooms, surgical areas, kennels, and equipment following strict infection control protocols. Communicate effectively with clients at the front desk regarding pet care instructions, appointment scheduling, and treatment plans to enhance client satisfaction. Assist with laboratory procedures, animal behavior assessments, and animal physiology or anatomy-related tasks to support comprehensive veterinary care. Requirements Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with animal handling and husbandry practices. Veterinary technician experience or veterinary assistant experience is highly desirable; certification or training in veterinary technology is a plus. Experience with veterinary critical care procedures such as IV insertion, medication administration, and aseptic technique. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior to support clinical tasks effectively. Ability to handle diverse animals confidently including dogs, horses (equine), and other species requiring specialized handling skills. Proficiency in record keeping, client communication, and laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine. Commitment to animal welfare through attentive pet care and adherence to safety protocols using personal protective equipment (PPE). Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate medical records and treatment logs.
