Madison Veterinary Hospital—an independently owned, AAHA-accredited practice—has an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. We offer competitive pay as well as strong benefits . This position offers 32-40 hours per week with a rotating schedule of days, evenings, and some weekends. As a Veterinary Assistant at MVH, you'll put your full skillset to work with responsibilities including: Obtain thorough outpatient history: knowledge of VetNotes, use TPR appropriately, triage critical cases, review previous vaccines & medical histories, summarize & communicate patient medical history to the DVM. Perform in-hospital laboratory tests. Arrange for and follow-thru on out-source laboratory tests. Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical products. Review and fulfill prescribed medications and refills. Preparation of vaccines. Use VetNotes & follow proper
POMR & SOAP
methods. Prepare and communicate medical plans. Perform outpatient treatments recommended by the veterinarian. Outpatient treatments include, but are not limited to, minor ear cleaning, minor wound treatment, administration of oral and topical medications, nail trims, routine suture removals, expression of anal glands and medical record maintenance. Knowledge of veterinary instruments, materials and equipment. Knowledge of safe and effective animal handling procedures. Administer SQ injections. Our Veterinary Assistants do not participate in anesthetic procedures, placing intravenous catheters, administering intravenous or intramuscular injections.
